CHAPTER 28:

It has been two weeks since Taylor’s death and today is the day of his funeral. Since then we have put Magcon to an end once and for all, it is too painful to do the shows with out Taylor. The fans are extremely sad but have been so supportive to us and his family. Sam was also arrested for kidnapping and murder and is set to spend life in prison. Every one has returned to there hoe towns but have all gathered today for the celebration of Taylor’s life. I haven’t really left my room the past two weeks. Matt has been extremely supportive and hasn’t left my side once. He is the best boyfriend I could ever ask for and is the love of my life.

I woke up at 7:00am and started to get ready. I have only been sleeping around three hours a night and have been having horrid dreams about that awful night. Taylor’s funeral was at 10:00am, and I have been asked to prepare a speech, I am not too sure what I am going to say but it will come from the heart.

I got up and woke up Matt, who has been practically living here. He woke and was going downstairs to make some breakfast. I jumped in the shower and washed myself and cried a little. I brushed my teeth and blow dried and straightened my hair. I applied some blush and water proof eye liner and mascara, since there would definitely be tears. I put on my black frilly dress with the back cut out and the straps that go around my neck into a bow. It was the dress Taylor bought for my last birthday. I put on my black ankle boots. I was about to head down stairs when I realized how much black I was wearing. Taylor never wore any thing black, he said it was too depressing. I went over into my draw and grabbed out a fluorescent pink bandana that Taylor left here. I put it on with some pink bracelets and lipstick. I looked in the mirror and smiled. Taylor would love his funeral to be colorful and happy, he would want us to keep it positive and fun, just like him. I went downstairs to see Matt and my mum, who were cooking breakfast. Matt got ready down stairs, he was wearing a black suit, and my mum was wearing a black formal maxi dress. When they saw me there faces spread into a big smile. Matt ran upstairs and grabbed a bright green bandana.

“You two look amazing and Taylor would be so proud of both of you” she said getting teary. I decided to text all the others and ask if they would wear a bright colored bandana in honor of our friend. We ate, and by the time we were finished it was time to head off to the church. The funeral was at a church near this amazing beach in Orlando, because it was Taylor’s favorite beach and he loved it here.

We arrived at the church and followed the crowd inside. It was strictly friends and family only, we didn’t want a whole heap of fans to come and make things even more upsetting for every one. Our story has been on the news non-stop lately and we have so much media attention its hard to leave the house without being mobbed. I walked inside and were met with the others. Every one had colored bandanas on, Nash, Hayes, Cameron, Aaron, Mahogany, Jack J, Jack G, Shawn, Brent, Cater, Allison, Matt, and I, it was great. We gave each other hugs and exchanged in a few supportive words when I saw Mr. and Mrs. Caniff. I ran over and gave them both giant hugs. They were like second parents to me. When my mum would go on business trips when we lived in Indiana I would stay at there house for weeks at a time.

“You look amazing Jamie, Taylor would be so proud that you are trying to be positive about everything, and he would especially love the bandanas” said Mr. Caniff, referencing to me and the others. I smiled.

“Are you prepared to say a few words?” asked Mrs. Caniff.

“Of course” I said with a warm smile.

“Great! I would really love it if you would sit in the front row with the immediate family?” she said.

“Is it alright if Matt joins us? I don’t think I could manage with out him?” I asked. I really needed him, Matt was my rock.

“Certainly dear” they said and went to their seats. It was about to commence and every one took there seats and Matt joined me upfront.

The funeral had been going for an hour and we had watched some of Taylor’s videos and vines and looked at pictures, a lot of which I was in. I had shed tears but I also smiled and laughed looking back on our memories. Mr. and Mrs. Caniff had spoken and so hve a few others, and now it was my turn. I didn’t have a speech prepared, I was just going to let it all come to me as I was up there. They called me up to speak and I walked up to the podium, next to Taylor in his coffin, I took a look at him as tears welt up in my eyes.

“Taylor was the best friend I have ever had, and will ever have. He is a hero, and if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be here today. Taylor and I have been through thick and thin together and shared every thing with each other. We experienced every thing together. When I broke my arm one summer and couldn’t swim, he wouldn’t swim either, when I was sick and couldn’t go to a party, he wouldn’t go to the party, he would be right by my side giving me soup and watching movies with me. Taylor was an amazing friend and was the greatest person I have ever known. When I was feeling down about something stupid he would always cheer me up. Taylor had that power to change the mood in a room, from dull and sad to wild and crazy. He was a crazy kid we have done some pretty stupid stuff, like at Magcon when he ran down the hall naked, and when we egged our grade 9 teachers house on halloween, and many many more. With out Taylor I wouldn’t have even made a vine or youtube account and would never have experience some of the things that I have. If it wasn’t Taylor, my beautiful amazing best friend, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Taylor, I will always love you, and may you rest in peace in heaven” I said with a tear running down my cheek.

I looked at every one as I returned to my seat, they all had smiles on there faces. Mrs. Caniff gave me a tight hug and thanked me for my kind words. Every thing I said was true, Taylor has made me the person I am today and with out him, I probably wouldn’t have met Matt, I wouldn’t have started vine, I wouldn’t have gone on tour for Magcon, and I wouldn’t have made all these amazing friends that I gained on the way. Taylor sacrificed himself for me and I could never repay him for that, he was a true hero and will forever be remembered for his courageousness.

At the end of the funeral all of us Magcon kids went down to the beach and had a bonfire in memory of our friend. It was great we all wore our bandanas and reminisced. We each had our own hilarious stories about Taylor to share. He really changed our lives in so many ways. It was getting dark and we were finishing up the bonfire and putting out the flames.

“Do you think he is looking down at us and laughing at all the stories with us?” asked Nash

“Definitely” said Carter. I looked up and smiled to the sky. I hope Taylor is watching over us.

“I LOVE YOU TAYLOR” screamed Nash to the sky.

“I LOVE YOU TAYLOR” screamed Shawn and Mahogany, then Brent and Hayes, then Aaron and Jasmine, then Jack J and Cam, then Carter and Jack G, then Allison and Matt and then me. We were all running around wildly on the beach screaming ‘WE LOVE YOU TAYLOR’ and ‘THANKS TAY’ and other things similar to that. I can just imagine Taylor sitting up in the unknown, watching us and laughing at our craziness and feeling touched about how much he has changed our lives.
