I looked up, staring motionlessly at his ugly face. He was beaming with smiles, his right hand sliding closer to mine.

In a flash, he held unto it but a quick violent pull from me had my hand sliding off his.

My eyes were thunderous as I flashed him a devilish glance.

He frowned.

His lips tightened into anger, his brows furrowed in resentment and his eyes turned paler as he stared back at me.

I wouldn't lie, for a second I lost my confidence, but the thought of his scaly palms rubbing my buttocks had this pool of anger swirl deep inside my heart.

I stood firm, both of us gazing hard at each other. His crew understood what was happening and joined in the stare, trying to scare me to submission. But I held my gaze, not ready to back down.

"Nneogo!" I heard Dera call.

I shut my eyes for few seconds until I could feel my heartbeat slow to a normal rate. I opened them again and without any words, turned and trotted towards Dera.

"Won't you pick up your money?" I heard him ask.

I stopped.

His question was followed with thunderous laughter as they mocked my "stupidity".

My eyes were already flooded with tears but I tried so much to fight them back. I never looked back! Never gave them that littlest victory they craved for.

I knew seeing my tears would make them feel better, but I wasn't ready to grant it to them, so I ignored his call and walked towards Dera.

"What is it?" She asked me calmly as I walked over to her. She was seated at corner in the shop, a large bowl of cooked meat pressed in between her laps. She was opening sachets of mixed spices  and some seasoning cubes.

Mama walked in immediately and I was certain she noticed my countenance.

"He touched me Dera!" I cried quietly trying to avoid Mama.

"Who?" She asked, as her hands busied with the meat she was mixing.

"That one over there. The one I served that plate of liver" I replied, totally in control of my emotions now.

Mama stopped what she was doing and turned to me.

"Did you get my money?" She asked obviously uninterested in my little complaint.

I shook my head slowly.

"And why is that?" She shot back in anger.

"He...he... " I murmured trying to find the right words to say.

"He did what eh?" She asked, turning fully to face me. Her high tone had now attracted the few men right outside the door as they turned to see what was happening.

"I don't care what happened, the first rule is, my money first!" She shouted taking striding steps towards me. "Go get my money, and now!"

I glanced at Dera who fought very hard to ignore me. My anger had been suddenly replaced with fear as I realised it would be difficult getting back Mama's money now.

I made no move instantly which infuriated Mama.

"I said now!" She screamed, leaving me frozen.

I hurried off to the door and towards the young man. Seeing that he'd seen me coming, I reduced my pace as I slowly walked up to him.

He looked up and kept his gaze permanently on me. This made me so uncomfortable as I blinked severally.

Completely freaked out by his stare, I lifted my gaze off him and rested it on the bottles of beer standing on the table before him.
