As I walk down the boulevard, i noticed a strange being standing to the right of me. Wiping the fresh rain water out of my eyes, i gaze at the spot where i saw them again. This person, decked in fancy uniform, had all skin covered except for the eyes. A pollution mask shadowed their face and a black ensemble was the rest. They wore a military style hat, just as dark as his clothes. The official is farther away than some of the others that are walking close and they are out of the line of eye.
So why did i notice them?
Answer: the badge.
On their chest, pinned to their black raincoat, was a government personal id. Laminated and waterproof.
Funny, you don't see many government officials that often anymore. Not after The Floodgate Massacre.
One of the most brutal and most deadly shooting to ever happen in US with over 250 people were dying or injured and most were the people with actual power. Knowing society, if none of the dead were wealthy, powerful, or white, no action would have been taken towards ending violence which caused the senate(or what was left of the senate) to ban guns altogether.
No government official really went outside anymore (we all knew the government lied so they are extremely unpopular). Many get pelted with soaking wet rocks or bludgeoned with umbrellas, so why was this person sticking out to me?
Maybe, because in front of everyone, they are still injury-less.
No one is scrambling to get the first hit. The person isn't running from the ever growing mob. They are just...
Standing.
Watching.
And me, with my indigo umbrella, amongst the clad, black and grey one's, standing, watching them...
Watch me
