"Amber will you help me with a food run." Jack asked me.

"Sure!" I said back.

"Do you know how to shoot a gun Amber?"

"Of coarse I do, are you crazy!"

We started getting the weapons in the car and getting some gas tanks. Once we finished we said our good byes just in case we didn't make it back.

"I hate goodbyes." I said.

"So do I Amber" Beth said.

Jack was already in the car ready to go. I got in after him, then we were off. I never wanted to go back to the cities or towns, but I did. I didn't want to see all these dead people walking around.

"Jack, what do you guys call these things?" I asked.

"Well we call them zombies or rommers." Jack responded.

Once we reached the store he told me to stay here until he got back. He was gonna take a sweep outside very quickly.

"Amber if I'm not back in five minutes start the car and go!"

"I will." I told him.

"Promise me you will." he told me as he was getting out.

"I promise."

He got out of the car and headed off. I counted as two minutes went by, then three then four. Where is he, he only has a minute left!

It was too late five minutes went by. I crawled over to the drivers side and started the car. There he is, Jack came back. I turned off the car and got out.

"I knew I could trust you!" Jack said proudly.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I wanted to make sure you would listen to me." Jack responded.

We started to go in to the market slowly and carefully. There was only a few 'zombies' but other than that it was safe. We collected food and drinks. once we got out we saw a horde heading our way.

"RUN AMBER!" Jack yelled.

We ran to the car as fast as we could carrying the food and water. If we didn't see them coming we would be gonners.

"Start the car fast, Jack!" I shouted.

We were out of there. Jack drove through the horde as fast as the car could go. I was worried that they would somehow manage to get the car to stop.

"Are you okay Amber?"

"I'm fine, you?"

"Still alive."

We laughed, it seemed like the first time in forever too. It felt good to not worry for once and get a few good laughs out of it.

"Amber?"

"Yes Jack."

"Have you ever wondered why life is so short?"

"To be honest, no I never did."

"Why is that?"

"I don't know Jack, why you ask."

"I can't stop thinking about the zombies."

After our conversation I could only think about his question. It just never accured to me.

We drove for an hour and only had half to go. It felt like forever as I watched the sun disappear. Its only been one day and humanity is practically dead.
