The Sand Zoomer was zooming through the desert at extremely high speeds. Everyone had to hold on with a tight grip just to keep from flying off. "Alright, we are almost there!" Harold yelled. They came across a massive temple that looked really old and ancient. It had carvings on the front, which Kane couldn't tell what they were supposed to be. Harold stopped the vehicle. "Okay here we are, hurry up and get out."
"Aren't you coming with us?" Alyssa asked.
"Of course not, legend says that if anyone unwanted enters, they'll die and I'm not ready to die." Harold replied and immediately started the ride back up and left. "What a wimp. C'mon let's go, I want to know what secrets are held here." Hiko said.
They entered the temple, inside it was really dark. The only lighting was from fire lit torches, which didn't provide as much light as what everyone is used to. "These torches are very primitive, especially compared to what I had back at home." Kane proclaimed.
Past the main entry chamber was a hallway, they walked through there and came across a room, which inside, contained a man who appeared to be waiting for someone. The man was extremely old and had a beard that reached the floor. "And who might you be?" The old man asked.
"I am Kane, and this is Alysaa and Hiko." Kane responded.
"Ah, I see, I am Melman, I have been waiting for you for many, many, many years."
"Wait, you've been waiting on us? For a long time?" Alyssa asked.
"Well yes, I've been waiting for the next generation of heroes to arrive, for about, hmm, what year is it?" Melman asked.
"It's year 29XX." Hiko replied.
"Ah yes, I've been waiting for five thousand, seven hundred and sixty nine years, and four days. Although there were supposed to be two more of you. There were five Planetary Protectors back in the day."
"Wait, two more people? Planetary Protectors? What in the world are you talking about?" Kane asked.
"Geez boy, you really don't know anything? I guess I'll have to let you in on everything then. So the story begins 5,719 years ago on Planet Arcadia. Arcadia was a beautiful planet, with the forests and the mountains, and don't get me started on the King's castle. It was a masterpiece. There were five sacred weapons created on Arcadia, each with a special elemental ability enchanted into it. Their soul purpose was to be wielded by a chosen hero to be used to save the universe from an evil that would threaten it's peace. There was the flaming blade, or more of a flaming falchion actually, forged by the dragon Bahamut, wielded by the hero Arcturus.
Next was the Aquatic Bow and Arrow created by the king sea serpent Zomok, which was wielded by a huntress, the heroine Yuffie.
Then there was the Naginata polearm, which was enchanted with the lightning powers of the Raiju, and this weapon was wielded by the hero Terrance.
After that was the Scythe of the undead, created by wraiths, and wielded by the hero Grayson.
Finally there was the Kusarigama enchanted with earthen abilities by the forest spirits of Arcadia, it was wielded by the heroine Kanna.
These heroes were chosen by the king to use these weapons to defeat many evils in their time. But one day they mysteriously vanished, and no one was ever able to find them. So I, Melman the Sage, was entrusted with keeping them here in this temple, until the next generation of heroes came to get them to defend the universe once again." Melman explained.
"Wow, that's unbelievable." Kane responded.
"So we are the next chosen heroes then?" Alyssa asked.
"Oh! Man that's so cool! I can only imagine the possibilities of what I could do with a sacred weapon!" Hiko said filled with excitement.
"Yes, you all are three of the five chosen heroes. But the only thing is I can't give you the weapons until all five heroes are together. So you'll have to find the other two first."
"Any idea where we can find the other two?" Kane asked.
"Yes I can help you, but first," A loud rumble shook the temple.
"Did you hear that? That rumble means there are intruders. Come let me show you something." Melman then teleported everyone outside to the top of the temple. Kane looked over and noticed an army of Kaizarr soldiers, armed with tanks and deadly weapons. "Oh no! It's the Kaizarr! How will we stop them?!" Alyssa shouted, her voice full of worry.
"Nonsense, let me demonstrate to you my powers." Melman proclaimed.
Melman began waving his hands around in a weird fashion, and quietly chanted some kind of incantation. All of a sudden a massive fireball fell out of the sky and landed on the army, destroying every tank and soldier there.
"Woah! How did you do that old man?" Hiko asked.
"That was mere child's play, I only used a fraction of my power. Now let us hurry back inside, another army will be here soon." Melman warped them back into the temple.
Once they were back inside Melman made two portals appear. "You must hurry! Split up into two groups and go through a portal. Through each one you will find one of the two heroes. When you find them come back here so I can present the weapons. I will stay here to guard the temple. Now go!" Melman explained.
So Kane and Alyssa went through one portal together, and Hiko went through one on his own.
They had no idea what was in store for them on the other side.
