Chapter 17

Meanwhile, the eight slaves were in ships heading away from the Kaizarr's Mercury facility. There were two ships, with four escapees in each.
"We need to hurry! The Kaizarr are catching up to us!" Reina shouted in a panic.
"I'm doing my best, I'm not used to these controls." Drek Florb replied.
"Man, I just can't believe we actually escaped the facility!" April said, trying to raise positivity.
"Yeah, I know right? I'm just worried about the people in the second ship." Xzyzar stated. The Kaizarr ship started closing in on the two ships.
"Alright, we're going to split up. They can only follow one group at a time." Drek planned.
So Drek steered the ship towards the left, and the other ship steered towards the right. The Kaizarr ship went right as well.
"Yeah! We got away from them!" Xzyzar cheered.
"It's too early to celebrate. Look what's going on out there." Reina said.
The Kaizarr began charging up a laser beam on the outside of the ship, while tailing behind the other slaves.
"Oh no! They are going to blow them all up!" April exclaimed.
As soon as she said that, the Kaizarr released the beam, and the ship was blown to smithereens.
"Edwin, Sandy, Kyle, and Franco. They are all gone. They didn't even get to tell their families goodbye." Drek sadly said.
"We can't let their deaths be for nothing. They allowed us a chance to get away from the enemy. We need to take this chance to get away, then plan how we can avenge them, and defeat the Kaizarr. Now who's with me?" Reina proclaimed.
"I am!" Everyone replied.
Drek hurried to move the ship far from the Kaizarr. He then began pressing every button, and flipping every switch. "What are you doing?" Xzyzar asked.
"Trying to activate light speed," Drek responded.
"I think I found it." He said as the ship zoomed forward. The ship was going so fast, it left the Kaizarr ship in the dust. They past many planets as they were zooming by. "Where are we even going?" April asked.
"Honestly, wherever we're close to when we're out of fuel." Drek answered.
The ship continued flying, and flying, and flying. Reina thought to herself, "Oh, I wonder where brother Kane is? I miss him. It's been so long since I've seen him. What could he have gotten himself into. Is he even looking for me?"
Suddenly, the ship came to a stop.
"We're on empty." Drek told them.
"Great. There's no planets near us, so we're stranded in the middle of space." Xzyzar complained.
"Wait I have an idea. I'm going to try to use the ship's communicator system to see if I can get a hold of anyone. Let's hope it can reach a signal." April stated.
She went up to it, and started messing around with it. "I have no idea what I'm even doing." April thought to herself. Eventually she found out how to turn it on. She put the end you speak through up to her ear and mouth, and started tuning with a dial.
"Come on, you can do this." Xzyzar said to support.
"Aha! Here we go! Found a signal." April cheered.
"Great work!" Xzyzar congratulated her.
"Hello, Who is this?" A familiar voice said through the machine.
"Hello! I'm April, and I'm here with a group of three other slaves. We just escaped the Kaizarr's Mercury facility, and are now stranded in the middle of space." April replied.
"Wait, Mercury? Slaves? Kaizarr facility? Does there happen to be a girl named Reina with you?" The man asked.
"Yes, she's here. I'll put her on," she answered.
"Here Reina, he wants to speak with you." April told her.
"Hello. Who is this?" Reina asked.
"It's me, Kane. Your brother." Kane told her through the device.
Reina stood in shock at the sound of her brother's voice.
"It's you! I've been waiting so long to hear from you big brother! Where are you?" Reina asked him.
"Well, me and a new group of friends just left Planet Lophos. I've been trying to find you for a long time, and there I found a hint as to your whereabouts. And now, I get a call from you. Where are you? I'll come and find you." Kane told her.
"Well that's the thing, we don't know where we are." Reina said.
"Is there anyway you can find out?"
"No, the ship is out of fuel, and this communicator only has a little power left. Everything's out of power here."
"Hmm, well hang on, I'll try to find you. Just wait, I'll find a way. I'm coming for you sis, I lo..." The communicator then ran out of power.
Reina put down the communicator.
"Well, what did he say?" Xzyzar asked.
"He's going to find us he said." Reina replied.
"How in the world is he going to do that? He doesn't even know where we are." Drek stated.
"Trust me, he's my brother. He'll find a way."
