Okay, I know this isn't really plausible but I would like it. Lotor suddenly starts looking.. different. His skin starts turning tan in patches, his eyes change color, (hair stays the same his hair is freaking gorgeous) and he flips. At first he tries to hide it, but eventually he confronts his father, Zarkon, and demands answers. I personally think the answer would be that he's actually half human, or that he does a galra Keith and starts showing his altean half. It would also be cool if he could learn to control his skin tone like Alteans, or stay semi-purple and learn to accept his new features.
