"Thank you so much for today, Ryder and Nathan " Wren thanked them when they dropped her off at her house. She hugged the both of them.
"Take care of yourself, Wren. I care " he said, flashing a sweet smile and she smiled back.
"I will, thank you a lot, Ryder. I appreciate "
"You're always welcome, princess " he said walking away, then into his car and zoomed off.
"He's really sweet" Wren said after he left, smiling.
"Yeah, Ryder is always the sweet one. Everyone loves him. "
"Of course, they have every reason to " she added again.
"Yeah, at least he's not a douche bag as his friend " his jaw clenched as he said that "You have to stay away from Tristan, he's dangerous " he warned for the hundredth time.
"Yes dad" she wanted to ask why he didn't tell her he was once Tristan's friend but decided against it since he didn't look like he was going to answer that.
"Thanks again for today, you're really a guardian angel ""you're welcome. " he replied.
"But, Nate. You don't have to get into fights because of me. You could get hurt "
"Wren, you don't have to worry about that, I'm a guy and can take good care of myself. I wouldn't sit back and watch some guy mess with you. I'll always be here to protect you."
"Aww.. I'm so happy I feel loved "
"Of course I love you, and wouldn't let any harm come to you "
"Thanks gee, you're the big brother I never had"
"And you're the kid sister I never had"
"Please send my regards to Ian and Mona. They came to see me too and I'm glad they did "
"Alright. You know its high time you listened to them. They were your friends, remember? Whatever happened that day, you have to listen to their side of the story. I'm sure they don't want you hurt."
"I'll think about that. And Rachel, she was there too, I don't know why. I thought she was being a bitch to me. "
"Rachel is a complicated girl on her own. " his expression changed when he said that.
"Were you ever close to her? You sound like you were "
"Why would you think that? You know what, you need rest and no part-time for you today. Have a deep rest " he tried to change the subject and she played along.
"I have to go to work today, I'm not that weak, you know. "
"No, no way. You stress yourself too much "
"What am I supposed to be doing stuck in that house? "
"Do anything nerds do " he said and she rolled her eyes
"Stop it, you look funny when you do that " he laughed.
" Whatever, I don't know why you guys keep calling me that, Is it written on my face? "
'You wear glasses, duh.' He wanted to say, but—
"That's because you're a nerd and you shouldn't be ashamed of it. So many people would kill to be as bright as you are. "
"Really? I'm not that brilliant, you know "
"You are smarter than you think, Wren. You don't want me to start on that, do you?"
"Nah, thanks "
"Do you want me to keep you company for awhile? "
"No, thanks. You've done enough today, Nate. I'm so lucky to have a great friend as you. I don't think I've ever done anything for you. "
