Secrets (Hayes Grier)

Chapter 7 ~ Monday

~Emma~

It was the day that I didn't want to come. Monday. I was freaking out when I got on the bus. I didn't know what to do. Kat was sick so I was alone for a couple of stops. We got to Hayes's stop and he sat next to me. I just looked out the window with my face pale with scaredness (I know that's not even a word but it is now in my dictionary!) Hayes looked at me and said "Hey". "Hi" I said back. "Listen, about Friday night I-" I interrupted him. "Hayes we already talked about this. We are just going to pretend nothing happened." I explained. "But thing is I can't forget about what happened. I'm breaking up with Alex today." He said. "Why?" I asked in a panic. "Because, she never even talks to me anymore. The only time we talk is of she is talking bad about someone! And I'm over it." I wasn't surprised, but scared. We got off the bus and I met up with Celina. I saw Hayes walk over to Alex and look back at me and I looked away. I was talking and explaining what happened to Nicole and Nash then I heard yelling. I saw Alex walk over to me with her face fire red. I dropped my stuff and ran. I hid in the back of the cafeteria before she found me. When she did she punched, slapped and kicked me. I had a scratch on my forehead that came from a stick the she threw, and a bloody nose from a punch. She walked away after that. I stayed sitting there in pain until school was over. When I heard the bell ring I secretly walked to the bus and sat in the first seat open. Hayes looked around the bus and saw me look out the window. He sat down and just started to talk about what happened and that he was so sorry but I ignored. He didn't notice that she left marks on me till I looked at him. We got to my stop that is right before his. He got off with me. "Hayes what are you doing your stop was next." I said softly. He didn't say anything but grabbed my arm and walked me to my house. I saw my mom run out in tears as she hugged me. "Thank you so much Hayes." She said. He slightly smiled and walked away. Before he got to far I turned him around and hugged him. "It's not your fault I said as he wrapped his warm arms around me. "You did what you had to do" I said as I looked in his beautiful eyes. I let go of him and he called Nash to come and get him. When Nash pulled up he ran out of his car and ran up to me and hugged me."Who did this?" He asked as he let go of me but still holding my arms. I looked at Hayes and Nash looked at him. Then he looked back at me. "Hayes did this!?" He asked surprised. "No, Alex did. She ran after me after Hayes-" I stopped. Hayes walked up and said "After I broke up with her. She thinks that I like Emma." I looked surprised, but I wasn't. I thought this would be a regular thing now. For her to beat me up everyday. I'm terrified.
