"Ok so in this song it's going to be like Kirstie and I have broken up and now she's with Avi." I look straight at Scott. He's the only one in the group who has any idea of how I feel about Kirstie, well except possibly Kirstie. "Unless that's a problem for you two?"
"Nope."
"No, of course not."
"Why would that be a problem Scott?"

Scott, Mitch and Kevin look on as we babble, falling over ourselves to seem ok with the idea. "Ok so the main thing we're going to need to remember is our positioning in this one. Mitch and Kevin, you won't be part of the main story but you'll need to be backing us up at various points. Avi, Kirstie and I will be taking centre stage." We all get into the positions that he's put us into and get ready to run through it.

We've only moved onto the choreography today since this arrangement took us a little bit longer. Kirstie and Scott are taking lead which they are obviously doing perfectly, Mitch is backing everyone up brilliantly and Kevin and I have a cool percussion break to work on. However since Scott announced the choreography that's all I've been able to think about and it's not going unnoticed. "Listen Avi, you're not an actor. If you don't feel like doing this thing with Kirstie then just get Scott to ask Mitch to do it."
"Nah man, it's fine. It's just part of the song it's not a big deal." Kevin slaps me on the back as he stands up "yeah that's probably for the best. Can you imagine Mitch and Kirstie trying to flirt? Those two are like the giggliest people I've ever met."

"You three ready yet?" Kevin asks, through the door of our dressing room. It's not really big enough to fit more than three people so we've worked out that it works best if Kevin and I get ready first and then let the trio get dressed afterwards. "Perfection takes time Kevin." Mitch's voice replies amongst giggles from Scott and Kirstie. Kevin looks to me for help and I just shrug. "We have to be in makeup in about three minutes guys."
"Chill out you two. We'll be done in a minute, why don't you go and get yours done first?"
"Ok then, see you backstage." Kevin and I start walking to the makeup room, chatting about the trio's silliness. "So are you ready for this performance then Avi?"

Kevin and I are waiting off stage ready to do our first performance. It's going to be the Cee Lo Green and Kelly Clarkson mash-up. "Hey Avi." It's Jess walking over, looking really pretty in a blue dress. "Just wanted to wish you good luck before your performance, not that you need it, you'll be great." "Thank you, good luck for yours too." She smiles at me and I smile back automatically. We're not together or even dating particularly but we've kissed a couple of times and I think something could definitely come of it. "You still up for hanging out afterwards?"
"Of course." She kisses my cheek 'See you later Avi.' I wave at her and then turn back to see Kirstie, Scott and Mitch standing there.

Mitch looks like he's about to make some kind of cheeky comment, Scott looks conflicted and Kirstie kind of looks almost sad. Kevin obviously notices and asks her if she's ok. "Yeah, I'm just kind of nervous. Two lead vocals in one night is kind of scary." She smiles up at him and it's only Scott, if the way he takes her hand is any indication, and I who notice that it doesn't reach her eyes. "Well you don't need to be Kirstie, you'll be fantastic." She smiles at Mitch, for real this time, and the hand that's not holding Scott's reaches out to him. He smiles at her and bumps their shoulders together and I feel that rush of affection again at seeing them make each other happy.

Ok. Avi you just need to focus. It's just acting, it doesn't mean anything. I'm trying my best to just concentrate on the vocals but it's near impossible when Kirstie's smiling at me like that. I swear she's being far flirtier than she was in rehearsals although I suppose it's not that surprising that she was saving the best until the live show. I'm half glad when she walks over to Scott, giving me a break. They play the fighting couple well although Scott can't help grinning at her when they turn to face each other.

Mine and Kevin's part goes down well and then she's back in front of me, holding my hand and my brain isn't quite as clear as it was. The rest of the performance is a blur of her face and her skin on mine and the way she looks in that dress and when people start cheering it takes me a moment to realise that we've stopped singing.

A/N: so I'm a little bit worried that I'm getting writer's block with this story. I know where I'm headed with it but getting there is a bit frustrating. I've got the next two chapters written and then something that'll come in later in the story but there will probably be a gap after the next two updates. Thanks for the reads/votes/comments!
