Chapter 29

Chapter 29- Sharlene

I sprint out of Coren's room and travel around corners until I finally reach my room. I pound my fist on the door in excitement. Bryce is the one to open it calm and cooly as he always is.

"What do you-" I interrupt him by running past him towards the far wall.

"Sharlene is everything okay?" Amy asks, but I ignore her.

"I head your thoughts, didn't I Thomas?" I check, turning to Thomas.

"Yes." He says questioningly. I'm not sure if he knows because of his power or the lingering feeling I know I leave. I turn back to the wall.

"What's going on?" Amy asks again with slight concern in her voice.

"Just a second." I dismiss her question as I give into my power. There's so many thoughts screaming at me, but eventually I find the one I was looking for.

'Can you hear me?' I try to place in Coren's head. After a long silent minute he responds confirming that I've reached him.

'Where did you go?' He asks me, but I ignore it like every other question. I take a step towards the wall and begin to knock on the wall.

'Can you hear the knocking?' I ask.

' Ya I can.' I hear back.

'Shar, are you going to tell me what's happening?' He continues.

' I want you to punch a hole through the wall in 30 seconds.' I command.

'What?' Coren replies.

'Just do it!' I beg, trying to sound as soft as I can.

'Are you sure?'

'Trust me.' I begin to leave his mind as he begins to count. As I tune back to Amy,Bryce and Thomas, I realize they have all given up questioning what I'm doing but are now just staring at me.

"You may want to take a few steps back." I tell them. At first they question what I'm saying, but as I walk back they follow.

"Sharlene what is-" Coren's punch interrupts Bryce's question. Amy screams and jumps into Bryce's arms. Thomas follows me as I walk towards the wall with the newly made hole in it. I cough the drywall dust out of my throat as I try to see Coren through the wall. When the dust finally clears I have a perfect view of the room through the hole. It's Coren's room, I can tell by the mess we made on the bottom bunk. There's only one thing that sends doubt through my mind, Coren is no longer in the room. I search the room all over with my eyes over and over again until finally I give up and back away. As soon as I'm far enough away, Thomas swoops in to take a peek.

"Is that-" A knock on the door interrupts him. Before anyone can answer the door, it opens revealing a concerned Coren.

"Did I hit anybody? I heard a scream." He asks as he comes into the room. I smile. I was right. It worked.

"That was me!" Amy angrily shouts, but sounds like she's joking at the same time. Coren shoots her an apologetic glare.

"Now can you explain what's going on?" he asks turning to me with a smile. Once he's beside me I begin to explain to everybody.

"I heard Thomas's thoughts which made me realize our rooms had to be close because I knew Thomas was in our room," I gesture to Amy and I. "When I got here I tried to find Coren's thoughts and see if he could hear anything. When he did I got him to punch a hole through the wall as you can all see." I smirk.

"Ya thanks for the warning."Amy says sarcastically. I shrug my shoulders.

"What was the point of all this anyway?" Amy asks again.

"It means we can all share a room." Thomas answers coldly before I can. Coren's mouth drops but quickly closes to a smirk. Amy squeals in happiness as she hugs Bryce.

"Would Steve be okay with this?" Bryce asks not wanting to leave Amy disappointed.

"He would be fine with it." Thomas replies staring at the floor completely emotionless. Before I can ask him if he's okay Coren comes and takes my hands.

"You want me to take down the wall?" He asks quietly making a normal question sound much more intimate. I smile at him as a response. He smiles back as he turns away walking back towards the wall. He winds up and before I know it there's another hole in the wall. I hear Amy laugh in excitement and turn to see Bryce and her holding each other with big smily faces. He spins her around so they're facing each other. He leans in and kisses her. He kisses her slow and passionately. You can see the fire building between them. Their arms wrap around each other as moans escape their lips. Coren coughs to get them to stop.

"Guys, If we're going to live together the PDA needs to stay at a minimum." Bryce and Amy part and smile at each other. Bryce flips Coren off and I laugh. I turn to Thomas to see his smile but he is no longer there. I begin to wonder where he is but I'm answered by the sound of the door slamming shut.
