6:32 A.M. That's what the digital clock on the oven read. Too early to be getting up and doing actual productive things, but you were too excited to go back to sleep. It was your birthday, and your best friend had something planned for you. It was supposed to be a surprise, but you were good at figuring things out. You had no idea what was planned, but based on how suspiciously he had been acting all week, you knew what was up. It was only a matter of hours before he would come over and you could confirm any suspicions about the surprise. Just as you were about to put some frozen waffles into the toaster to eat for your "grand" birthday breakfast, you heard a sketchy noise coming from the entrance of your house.
You dropped to the kitchen floor and hid behind the island counter, now in your stealth mode. Then you quickly stood back up to retrieve your weapon (your butter knife), and dropped back to the floor, now equipped.
You knew the sound.
Keys. Keys jiggling in a lock. Before you could do anything, Jin, your best friend, was already in your house and closing the door behind him. You quickly got off of the ground before he could see you crouched in a ridiculous position, and jumped out from behind a corner to scare him.
"God, you scared me, y/n!" he whined while clutching his hand over his heart. What an idiot. Your best friend, nonetheless. His face was priceless.
"You scared me! Now we're even. Why are you in my house?! When did you even get a key?" you quizzed him as you glanced at the bag in his hands. Groceries.
"That's for me to know, and for you to never find out. Anyway, take this," he ordered while handing you the grocery bag. You just gave him a quizzical brow and turned around to walk in the kitchen.
You took a look at the contents of the bag, and all you could say was, "This is a freaking potato."
"That's correct. And that is a pack of bacon, and that's some butter, and that's some flour, " he listed off while pointing to the contents in the bag. "What, did you expect your birthday present so early in the day? This is just for your birthday breakfast!"
"Are you serious? Was this whole surprise you were planning all week just you making me breakfast?" you questioned, secretly disappointed.
"No, but you aren't gonna get a surprise with that attitude. Just go sit your butt on the sofa and let me make you breakfast, then we can do the not-really-a-surprise-anymore-surprise," he informed while tying the apron he kept at your house around his waist. God, that sass will be the death of him.
After forty-five minutes of getting ready for the day, you returned back to the kitchen to see a feast before you. Bacon, eggs, pancake, waffles (not the frozen ones you were planning on eating earlier), french toast, hash browns, sausage, fruit, and basically anything else you could imagine at a breakfast. You weren't going to ask why he did all this for you, and instead were just going to take advantage of the moment and pig out.
"So, what's the big surprise?" you asked happily while shoveling food in your mouth.
"I'm going to take you driving."
"Where are you going to drive me...?" you hesitated.
"No, you're going to drive me."
"I don't even know how to drive."
"Exactly. I'm going to teach you how to drive. Fun, right?" he exclaimed. No, not fun.
"Is your goal to just make me disappointed?" you whined while putting your fork down. He sighed and stood up from his seat, then pushed his chair in. He speedily put all of the leftover food away, and put the used dishes in the sink. Those could be washed another time; now, he had more important things to do. He grabbed your hand and pulled you out the door. It was time to go driving.
