Be Jake:
It's been 11 months of living here. Since I got here, Rose was taken home, along with Meulin. Kurloz is depressed a lot, more than usual without her. He smiles a little when Jane meets us in the Social Room. She says something to him in sign language. She speaks it aloud and says what he says to her aloud as well.
They had a whole conversation about Meulin leaving. Kurloz won't be leaving for another three months. It's the 27th of June, I have a few weeks left of this hell until I go home.
July 5th, I wish you'd come faster. I look through my calendar, finding the date I'm scheduled to go home. A week or two left to go! It's time for rest as all lights in the building go out. I see a familiar face pass by my door, it's that orange haired boy. He looks straight into my eyes through the tiny window on my door. Those bright orange eyes stick out all too well. He smiles at me, then walks off. If only I could remember his name.
June 29th. 6 more days!!!!! Today is a Thursday. Jane will be coming to visit. I get to my lunch table, ecstatic that I'll be leaving to go home soon.
I see Janey, I lift her up, hugging her, and kissing her all over her face. She giggles, "six more days Jakey!" She says it happily. My heart is leaping. "Six more days Janey!" I say with even more excitement.
July 4th. I can hear so many fireworks, going out through the night sky. Reds and blues, I can see them all in my head. The walls of my room being cealed shut and opaque. A security guard walks to my room. He stops, my door opens.
"Some of the kids are being let outside to watch the fireworks. Would you like to come?" He says.
I get off my bed, nodding. I follow the man down to the exit, seeing other patients watching the sky. Guards all around us so we don't escape.
Blues, greens, reds, purples even, all so beautiful in the night sky.
