Have you ever felt it?

64 6 6

Today I will ask you something,
A question too horrible to ask,
But have you ever felt that feeling,
Like you're hiding behind a mask?

That is what I feel everyday,
And I know you'll say that you don't know what to say,
But this heart needs rest today,
From all the hassles that are
increasing day by day.

I really don't think I'm fine,
Because I'm not happy,
Even with the people of my own kind,
Because they think I've become too sappy,
And too emotional to fit in their group without a smile.

Have you ever counted stars every night?
Just to forget the number of people who broke your heart,
Who stole the precious rays of light,
Without which there is no sign of recovery within sight.

Have you ever stood in the pouring rain?
To cry to your heart's content,
And feel all your positivity drain,
To cry as if your heart was slaughtered,
And then blame the tears on the pouring water.

Have you ever sat in the bathtub for too long,
And wondered what it would feel like to drown and drain along,
With the steadily flowing dirty water,
As you feel every thing in and around you shatter.

Have you ever held a knife?
And wondered what it would feel like,
To take away your own life,
To leave this big, bad world behind,
And just disappearing away without a sign.

Have you ever been unable to sleep;
Lying awake in bed, thinking too deep?
Looking out of the window,
Wishing it would somehow snow,
So that the temperature outside,
Finally matches the cold heart inside.

Have you ever tried to look pretty?
Just to silently scream out
'HUG ME',
So that you finally have some hope,
To live in this world that people call dope,
Just tried to fit in the casual crowd,
Atleast to make them believe you're not already imagining your shroud?

I know this poem is a little too big but I really had many thoughts on this topic and they just poured out of me. Again, I'm sorry for the extra-huge poem.

Question of the day

What genre of books do you prefer to read other than poetry?

(Personally, I prefer humor or romance. For a person writing such deep and depressing poems I really have a quiet weird choice😂)
