Apologies

During the ride home, there was complete silence. I glanced over at Daniel and he was still pretty mad. Anna was in the back seat, looking out the window with tears streaming down her cheeks. I continued to drive in silence until we got home. Daniel slammed the door closed and glanced at me, "sorry" he muttered. I placed my hand on his shoulder, "you should apologize to Anna"
"Wh-"
"Come on, she's your sister. She's just trying to live her life. And I know you were just trying to be a good and protective brother but there are some times where she won't need you to save her"
"You're right it's just.... she's -"
"She's not a little girl anymore"
"But she's also not an adult!"
"She knows how to take care of herself. Come on Daniel, just apologize"
"Yeah you're right. I'm not good at keep a grudge anyway"
He walked to the left side of the car where she was sitting, only to find the door already opened. "Where'd she go?"
"She's probably in the house"
We walked in the house and Anna was in the kitchen grabbing a drink. She saw us enter the room and started to walk away but Daniel stopped her.
"Look, Anna I'm sorry i yelled at you and all that but you have to know I was only looking out for you"
"I don't need you looking out for me. I'm not a damsel in distress! I don't need you to always protect me. I can do things on my own, I can protect myself"
"No you can't. There will always be times where you are vulnerable and unable to protect yourself!"
"All the better reason to leave me alone! Let me fight my own fights. Let me learn from them! Let me get stronger from my experience"
Jack walked into the kitchen and walked right out as soon as he heard the commotion. Corbyn popped his head in, "is this a bad time to be asking for a Gatorade?.... I'll take that as a yes"
I passed him a blue Gatorade, "thanks bro"
"Look Daniel, I know you have my best interest in heart but you have to understand that having three older brothers can be hard"
"You know what's harder than having three older brothers? Having a stubborn little sister!"
"Why can't you just leave me alone?!" She clenched her fist
"Because I'm worried about you! Look Anna, I'm trying to apologize"
"Save it -" she was going to say something but she decided it was best to stay quiet. She glanced at her brother one more time before she stormed upstairs
