Grounded

"Really Annelise what were you thinking?!" David scolded at her as he paced back and forth. I stood uneasily behind her along with the rest of the boys. She dug her nail in her palm and didn't look David in the eyes.
"And you! Marais, I've been too nice to you already. That was your last chance. Pack your things and get out. Jack will see to it that you leave by sunrise."
"I... yes sir" I shifted my weight from one foot to another.
"You can't blame him" Annelise muttered
"What?" David turned his attention back to her
She cleared her throat, "i said you can't blame him. It wasn't his fault that I got in trouble. We were at a party and someone dragged him to another room while I was hanging out with .... someone"
"I see... and this 'someone', is it that boy you ran off with at Logan's party?"
"How'd yo-" she looked at me and and her expression harden. She gave me that I-swear-if-you-told-him-you-are-so-dead look. I raised my arms in defense and shook my head. Without even looking back David crossed his arms, "no one told me. I saw with my own eyes. Now answer me Annelise. Was it or was it not that same boy you ran off with?"
"... it was..."
"Hmmm alright well since you clearly don't know how to behave outside the house, you can't leave the house"
"What?! Oh come on David! You've got to be kidding me! You can't lock me from the outside world. I'm not Rapunzel!"
"I'm not locking you from the outside world, think of it as being grounded"
"Psshhh more like house arrest"
"Would you like your time to extend?"
She was going to say something but she decided it was best to stay quiet. She pouted and glared at him. I glanced at the Daniel, Jack, and Corbyn. We all had the same expression. Wide eyes and open mouths.
"5 months, you will stay in this house for 5 months. If you behave properly then you can take a walk outside. But no more than 5 yards away"
"This isn't fair, I'm an adult!"
"Well when are you planning to start acting like one?"
