Chapter 6: As Promised

[Y/N's POV]

"I brought some bento, guys!" I chirped once I emerged from the room.

"Where have you been, Y/N? We're about to leave." Shikamaru-kun seriously said.

"I went for a walk and then I stumbled upon Temari-san. She told me to give these bento to you, guys." I handed out the lunch boxes. "Of course, the fanciest is yours, Shikamaru-kun." I commented as I packed my lunch box in my ready-to-go backpack.

"Fanciest?" He asked as he looked at everyone's bento before his.

"Yep. Apparently, Temari-san made yours with full of love." I retorted as I slung my bag behind me.

He blushed. "Wha--?"

"Let's go. Aren't we going yet?" I said, flatly.

"Such a troublesome woman. Fine." He said, completely lost of interest to argue.

I sighed and looked down as we went out of the room an went straight to the Kazekage's office to inform them our departure.

On our way back, Shikamaru-kun called. "Y/N."

Heart skipped. "Y-Yes?"

"What is wrong with you? You've been acting weird since last night." He asked, voice actually full of concern.

"Nothing is weird about me. I'm fine." I tried to tough it out.

"Really? If something's bothering you, you know you could tell us." He smiled.

His smile soothe me and that made me feel so happy. "What? Are you worried about me?" I pounced on him.

"What the-- Y/N!!" He balanced ourselves from the massive tree branch. I giggled.

"Y/N! Shikamaru! Don't just stop! Geez!" Ino complained.

I gave her a death glare, completely ruining the mood. Still clinging on Shikamaru-kun, I properly hugged him on the waist.

"Let go now, Y/N..." Shikamaru-kun said.

"Just let her be, Shikamaru." Choji interrupted.

"Ah, geez. Troublesome woman. Come on, let go now. I'll let you cuddle me once we get a day off." He promised.

This beamed me up. "Really?!" He nodded. I let go and we continued our journey back to Konoha.

Soon, we stopped to take a rest. We put out our bento made by Temari-san. We all took a bite on our own and I admit, she was a great cook.

Why is she everything I am not?

I stared out on my lunch box. Realizing that I have been taking up my time, I finished up quickly.

No interruption happened on our way back. It was a smooth mission. Now, we just have to give report to Lady Tsunade.

As soon as we did, Lady Tsunade announced to us that we will have day off for the rest of the day.

"Yaaaay!" I cheered. I swiftly went closer to Shikamaru-kun, smiling at him.

"I know what you're smiling about. I'll just take a shower once we get there." He rubbed the back of his head as we went to our respective houses.

Going home together with him always felt so good. It always makes me feel that I'm so close to him.

Once we entered the Nara house, we were greeted with, "Welcome home!"

And, a response of, "We're home." Shikamaru-kun immediately took a shower and I went up to my room to freshen up myself. Changing into lazy clothes is the best thing to do after you've arrived home from a tiring mission.

Lying on my bed, I waited for Shikamaru-kun. A knock was heard a few hours after. "As promised." I heard him sigh from the other side.

I urgently stood up from my bed and went to his room, only to find him already sleeping. I carefully went up to his bed and sat. Now, this is something she doesn't see all the time...

...Or have she...?

I sighed. Why am I even thinking about it? I sat closer to him, just admiring his tired sleeping face.

"You're creeping me out, troublesome woman. I thought you want to cuddle?" He said, not opening his eyes.

I blushed all of a sudden by his comment. "I-I wasn't staring! I was just about to lie down!" I shouted.

"Keep it down, Y/N." He huskily said. That voice, so...irresistible.

When I lied down, I realized that the sky was engulfed with darkness. This is probably the reason why he headed straight back to the house. Rain started pouring.

Perfect timing for my most awaited cuddle time! ❤

Shikamaru-kun shifted and sneaked up his arm on my waist. My heart skipped instantly. He has never done this before but now, he's doing it.

His hugs has always been warm but in this cold weather, it was better than a blanket. This is the best day ever.
