It was a sweltering summer day and the streets of Lacanau  were bustling with tourists and surfers.Despite it being only nine in the morning the beach was already infested with keen family's all trying to get the perfect spot. Everyone was trying to make the most of the last few weeks of summer holidays before school started again.

Up on the Hill was an Orphanage, if you didn't know the area, you wouldn't know it was an Orphanage, it just looked like a large old house and tourists often came over to ask if it was was a hotel or had rooms to rent.
If you looked close enough though, you could see a brown haired boy peering out the window at the sea, desperate to run down there and jump in but knew he wouldn't be allowed until after breakfast.

"Sis, Amy! Wake up!" Shouted the brown haired boy and he ran over to shake awake his sleeping twin sister,"adoption visitors today"

"I'm aware, it's not like I haven't been talking about it the past week" she jumped up and ruffled her brothers hair," Percy, do you really think we have a chance?"

"I have a good feeling about this one"

"You say that every time"

"Well this time.... I have the bestest feelings ever"

"Bestest? That's not even a word" Amy swung her feet onto the cold floor and rubbed her stiff legs.

"Déjeuner!" One of the Orphanage workers knocked on their door.

"You know what would be even better, is if the visitors Speak English, I hate having to speak two languages it confuses me" Percy sighed.

There weren't too many other Kids at the Orphanage and most of them couldn't speak much English at all as the local school wasn't that great. Amy and Percy mostly kept to themselves and they were usually left alone anyway.

"Un croissant et de la confiture s'il vous plaît" Amy asked the Cook and he placed a freshly made croissant on a tray along with a mini jar of jam.

"I'm surprised you're not sick of those pastries by now" The twins sat at a table in the corner of the room

"Well, I guess I am but It's better than the porridge" Amy shrugged.

"Oh I really hope they let us go down to the sea today" Percy looked longingly out the window.

"It's really busy though, I doubt we will get to go you know where" Amy looked round worried someone would hear—not that they'd know what she was on about really.

"Look there's a car coming up the hill" Percy jumped up so he could get a proper view," it's fancy and...  it's got an English number plate!"

"What, really?" Amy brushed the crumbs off herself and joined Sparky by the window,"Well what do you know? Better get out of our Pjs then, so we can make a good impression!" She grabbed the rest of her croissant, stuffing it in her mouth, ecstatic with excitement.

They ran back upstairs to their bedroom and both pulled on some shorts and a plain t-shirt, waiting excitedly as the fancy black BMW pulled up in the parking area. Two black suited men came out of the car, which surprised the twins, as they were expecting more family-like people.

"Maybe they are so rich they have escorts or something" Percy said excitedly.

"That'd be something, but don't get your hopes too high, they might not even take us." Though Amy was really hoping Percy was somewhat right.

The door bell rang and all the other Orphans crowded to the entrance hall to see who was there. The workers tried as best they could to move them away from the door, but the children were too excited, especially the twins.

Amy and Percy were the oldest  and had been Orphans the longest, so the idea of a family was a dream come true. They had seen many children walk in and out of the place and had always  dreamed and wondered what it would be like if it was them.

The black suited men were let in, all the other children looked at each other in surprise. The men looked about the crowded children and paused when they laid eyes on the twins.

"Bonjour, je suis ici pour parler de l'adoption" The man on the right said to one of the workers who gestured they to follow her into the office. When the door closed, there were a few murmurs of disappointment and the crowd dispersed but Amy and Percy were intrigued to find out who the men in suites were here for.

It was only seconds later and the worker came out again a little surprised the twins were still by the door," come on in," she said bluntly. The twins exchanged glances; that had been the first time she had spoken English to them directly.

"Hello Percy and Amy" one man shook their hand.

"These two men work for a family who wish to adopt you" the worker smiled.

"Do they live in England?" Percy excitedly asked.

"Yes, they do" she smiled, just that little bit more sweetly than normal, "now the move won't be until the day after next as paper work needs to be done so you can take the plane over"

The twins looked at each other in excitement.

"Now if you could get your things packed, you'll be leaving for a hotel tomorrow" she smiled.

The twins bounded out the room, over the moon with excitement.

"I can't believe it! I don't think I'll ever miss this place once we're in England, they must be so rich as-well" Amy jumped up and down.

"I think I will though, our secret place, there is probably no water where they live"

"Well after lunch we'll say one last good bye to it, we can always come back when we are older"

"That's long time though"

"Don't be such a party pooper this is meant to be a happy moment"

"Ok, ok your right... woo we're going to England!" He Shouted and a little girl jumped in surprise as she walked past.

"That's more like it" Amy laughed," come on let's get some stuff together and try and get on Isabel's good side"
