I was still afraid, but to be a ninja was to endure. I was pretty sure  that the quiet days Kakashi and I had spent together had tied us together in more ways than one. Right now, there was no telling what he was thinking. I didn't know what he wanted but I knew I was playing for keeps. I was not going to shy away from him.

The scenery kept changing as we travelled, our pace steady but fast. At first it seemed like the trees would never end. A steady wind blew, marking the early November air with a slightly crisp undercurrent. I smiled to myself, thinking about what I wanted to do for the next date. Slowly, I try to put those thoughts out of my head. We had a long ways to go yet before we reached where we were meant to be. With such thoughts on my mind I would not be able to focus.

I glance over at Kakashi as we pass by a stream with rapidly moving water and white frothy foam over the top. Kakashi gives me a one eyed, masked smile as we travel in silence. We travel until it gets dark and finally stop for the night, relieving ourselves and restocking water. Because we couldn't cook in case enemy ninja were nearby, we made do with what we had packed beforehand. It took us several minutes to set up our sleeping mats but before long we were nestled in a circle under the stars. Without much discussion, I stare up at the stars and reflect on the Hokage's  words from earlier.

'Hnh, stupid old man,' I think to myself as Kakashi taps my arm and points upwards. As I follow his finger I see a shooting star sail across the sky, disappearing quickly. I smile and close my eyes. 'I wish something good will happen soon,' I think to myself as my hand finds and intertwines with Kakashi's hand. It was big and warm and comforting. I felt a smile brush across my face as I closed my eyes and listened to the things going on around me. Crickets chirped and the wind blew gently throigh the trees, rustling every leaf it touched. I wanted to do this without a mission next time.

The fear I felt in the beginning slowly dissipated as I began to fall asleep.

~♡TIME SKIP♡~

I awoke as the sun rose, feeling the warmth as the rays brushed against my face. I peeked over to see Kakashi looking at me groggy with sleep. "Is it morning already?" He asks in a husky voice that sent shivers into places I won't be able to name. His one eye was shut and the other staring into me, his hair a mess.

My heart jumped erratically, not processing what was happening to me in that moment. He looks just like a sexy god, in all of his kissable godly glory. "Ahem," I hear Asuma cough behind me, startling us both. I turn to see both Asuma and Kurenai exchanging knowing smiles. I look down to hide my embarrassment as I get up and roll up my mat. "Good morning you two. Are we ready to set out?" I ask as I put my game face on. They nod and we set out. We should reach our destination by later in the day, maybe 5 in the evening at the latest.

The sun was steadily rising when the scenery took a drastic change. Everything became more lush, more marsh like in the smells and temperature. We were making good time even with scanning around for any enemies that may come about. We would be making an escape as soon as we rescued the child. There was no way we could fail this mission as it was an S rank. S ranked missions brought in a lot of money, but were super dangerous. The thing was, we were going to be fighting other shinobi if we weren't able to sneak in and out of the area where the child was being held. That posed considerable danger for the client, which was why ninja skills were valuable.
