Delilah didn't know whether she was concerned for Gemma or pissed at her. She felt like it was a dick move of her to just up and take off with Rosie's car leaving them both stranded at the nursing home they left her father at. That resulted in Jax, who was still pissed off at her, probably even more annoyed with her for letting his mom get the slip on her.
Gemma had driven back to Charming – to Don's house – expecting to see Abel. And he wasn't there. The guys and her had to walk into the home to see Gemma collapsing on the ground clutching her heart.
But even more, it wasn't even 5 seconds later when they arrived at St. Thomas that Federal Agents came bustling through the door wanting to find all the details on their missing fugitive. Apparently, Gemma made a deal to turn herself and that was a nice perfect icing on a shit cake.
That left her sitting in the corner of the waiting room of St. Thomas. She noticeably sat further away from Jax, which no one questioned. Jax seemed intent on keeping up his cold front.
The only people who were braved enough to take a seat next to her were Lip and Don.
She didn't mind their presence and even leaned her head on her Uncle's shoulder and found comfort from him. Sitting in the hospital with him reminded her of when they were teenagers waiting to see if her mom survived her latest overdose.
"I heard your Mom was up there," Lip said to her.
She sighed and looked at her brother. "I wasn't sure if I was going to tell you. Sorry."
Despite her brother having the outward appearance of a tough muscular man, his heart was soft. She knew how her mother could twist him up. He would easily let her back in like all the time he did Fawn. She knew outside of Isla, their mother was the main reason he couldn't let go.
"It's alright. Not like it would have changed anything but open old wounds." Lip replied.
"She looked happy. Healthy." Delilah told them a bit sadly. She was happy her mom was clean and sober, but it hurt that she and Lip weren't a part of that.
Don brought his arm around her. "She's just wired differently, Del. In her own warped way, she did what she thought was best for you two."
Delilah nodded her head shakily. She could understand in a way. Her mom leaving them with Don was a good childhood. They were both taken care of and her Uncle had provided a stable upbringing. "Just as a mother –"
Don held her close. "I know, Del. I know."
...
"What's going between you and my sister?" Lip questioned as he and Jax took a smoke break outside of St. Thomas.
Apparently, the phone call that Gemma received that triggered her episode had brought down a bomb of information. Abel wasn't in Canada, but Ireland. Belfast, Ireland to be exact. He knew that they will get to Ireland despite the charges pending against them. They just need to be worried about the how.
Besides, there may be concerns about loyalty with their Irish brothers choosing the IRA over their patch. And that led to a whole other set of problems that Lip didn't know if the club could handle in a quick precise manner.
Yet, despite all that shit, Lip's main concern was his family and he had noticed that Jax and Delilah couldn't be any further apart at the hospital. And right now was the worse time for Jax and his sister to be pushing each other away.
Jax took a long drag of his cigarette. "Just shit, man. There's no handbook for this type of shit."
Lip nodded his head. "I know, man –"
