Lyretta walked in still holding on to Aka's arm. She looked around the ballroom and her eyes lit up in surprise. Everything was so bright and lively. Indeed, this was a grand affair. Lyretta did not recognize the people in the room but she saw they were all opulently dressed. So much jewelry and finery!

Aka was currently looking at her intently. So, this was the woman his fiancée called the 'hateful sister'. Interesting.

So far, he had not seen any hateful parts, but it had indeed been a mistake to enter with her into the ballroom. He had done so only because he had been interested in the girl, but he was not in any way trying to upset Princess Esmeralda. Even if he was only marrying her for convenience sake, he was not the type to play with women's feelings. He retracted his arm and took a step to the side.

Missy was also staring at her big sister Lyretta with shock on her face. Inwardly she despaired. Her big sister could have been anyone, but why did she have to be the one and only "child born of sin". It was a well-known secret that people greatly disdained her openly.

Missy watched as her brother released her big sister's hand, and her face turned into a deep frown. She pouted her lips. She also noticed the stares from the other guests and her heart hurt for her big sister, so she reached out and took her big sisters hand. By standing on her side she was showing silent support and loyalty. Lyretta tightened her hold on Missy's hand, she had suddenly felt the support was exactly what she needed.

Aka noticed his sisters action and said nothing. This was fine with him. Even if he could not approach Lyretta that did not mean he would stop his sister from doing so.

As soon as Esmeralda had heard Aka's name she had turned toward the entrance, her face had shown how happy she was to see him, but as soon as she saw her hateful sister's hand in the crook of her beloved's arm her smile had wavered and disappeared.

Her face paled, anger filling her heart and mind. She had been about to stomp toward them when her father stopped by putting out his arm in warning.

King Roin also found the situation displeasing, but he could not allow his daughter to cause any trouble, not when so many of the kingdom's notables were present in the crowd.

Esmeralda's hands trembled in anger, but out of deference for her father she did nothing else.

King Roin was at the very back of the ballroom on a raised dais. He was seated on a velvet red chair plated in gold leaf. He wore a white and light blue outfit accenting his kingly majesty. Next to him stood Esmeralda who was wearing white and light pink dress. She looked like a blooming winter lotus.

King Roin looked around the room and took in people's reactions. His Queen had made sure to brainwash the people well and he could easily see who Lyretta's supporters were. Just about anyone who was not looking at her with disgust would be on her side.

Soon Marchioness Alitia separated from the crowd and approached her niece.

"Countess Soumi." Marchioness Alitia bowed in front on Lyretta. Usually one would not refer to a countess by her title but rather by 'your excellency' or in Lyretta's case 'Honorable Lady'; however, Marchioness Alitia wanted to make sure others would know where the power of the Soumi clan now lay.

Hearing those words, people broke out of their stupefied state. They realized now there was no mistake, there was a new power at the head of the Soumi clan. Many looks of disdain turned to appreciation and respect. None of them would be able to match her prestige and it was better for them to avoid offending the new matriarch, especially when it was so clear she had the support of the Marchioness.
