"Aunt, why did you not wish to join Father for tea?" Lyretta was genuinely upset at having lost such a good chance to speak with her father. As soon as they had arrived at their assigned rooms she had turned to ask her aunt about her reasons.

"Child," Marchioness Alitia did not know how to tell Lyretta that her 'father' was someone she did not trust and even hated. That man had taken her sister to the point of no return and had made it so Lyretta had to hide in her estate for the last two decades.

"I am simply trying to be careful. We do not know the castle well, and we truly have just arrived from a long journey. Don't you think it would be better to rest first and then act once we have cleared our minds from fatigue?" Marchioness Alitia tried to reason with her little treasure and deflect her attention.

Lyretta thought about what her aunt said and promptly nodded. As usual her aunt was right. Rather than make a mistake because something silly like being tired, it would be better to rest.

"In that case I am going to take a short nap, Aunt." Lyretta walked up to the Marchioness and softly kissed her cheek, then she turned around and entered one of the rooms, preparing herself for an afternoon nap.

Marchioness Alitia watched the girl, and a flame of indignation lit up in her chest for the sake of the girl.

Had King Roin acknowledged Lyretta as his daughter she would have forgiven him enough to allow Lyretta to act at her own discretion around her father and sister. But this King had instead acted formally and referred to Lyretta as 'lady Lyretta' rather than daughter or just her given name. If he would not properly acknowledge her little treasure, then he simply did not deserve her.

Marchioness Alitia narrowed her eyes as she sought a place to sit her tired body. The journey really had been long, that was not a lie. they had traveled nearly two weeks in a horse carriage in order to arrive at the palace. Such a journey was most uncomfortable.

She sat down thinking just how she was going to deal with this situation. Now that King Roin had decided not to acknowledge Lyretta it was like he was fueling the negative attitude most held toward Lyretta. Soon her little treasure would be confronted with most unpleasant experiences.
