Moving In

Hi! My name's shysunflower! This is my first kotlc story, so bear with me. I hope to update at least once a week (fingers crossed) Enjoy!

 Sophie surveyed her new house. It was everything she wanted- and more. A lot more. Her parents had insisted on moving to a better area ever since her father's rehab work was sponsored by an anonymous philanthropist, but she hadn't expected...this. Everything was nice and big. 

She was knocked out of her reverie by a squirt of water hitting her face. Sophie looked around, startled. She looked around, then saw the source. A tall boy with messy blond hair was sheepishly holding a super soaker on the property next to her. 

"Sorry! I was aiming for those birds!" He exclaimed, motioning towards a nest of bluebirds in the nearby tree. 

"That's okay, but why would you try to hit them?" Sophie asked.  

"They upset my beauty sleep, this hair doesn't keep itself. " he paused, then added, "I'm Keefe." 

"Hi, I'm Sophie," she responded, feeling self conscious. I knew I should of worn something cute

Sophie thought. 

"Sophie! Where are you?" her parents called. 

"Here!" Sophie exclaimed, then added to Keefe, "I have to go, nice to meet you!" 

Keefe nodded, and Sophie ran back to the house.  

"Who were you talking to, and why is your hair wet?" Her mother, Edaline, asked. 

"To both questions: our new neighbor Keefe." Sophie replied. Her father looked in the direction of the new house. 

"That boy looks like trouble..." 

"Grady! Don't be so harsh. First impressions aren't always right." Edaline responded. 

Sophie personally thought he was cute, but she didn't say anything. 

Maybe tomorrow. Wait, tomorrow's my first day of Foxfire! She thought. 

All other thoughts vanished like a snuffed candle.
