Today's the first day of April! Sophie thought as she woke up, blinking happily in the morning light. It felt like the whole year had gone by way too fast- Sophie could almost believe she was still in September. It's been a good year, she reflected. She'd gotten to know an awesome group of friends, go to winter formal, and was going to get her license in the summer. She had escaped going to prom with Valin by 'coincidentally' having a family hiking trip that weekend.
Sophie smiled.
Her alarm clock began to beep, and Sophie lunged to turn it off. Still, she had a few more months to go before summer vacation. She looked towards her closet and hefted herself out of bed. Time to get ready...
"Ooh! What's this?" Sophie asked Biana as they arrived at Sophie's locker. Sophie examined the parcel taped to her locker, iridescent wrapping inviting mystery.
"Oh, I wouldn't touch that." Biana warned. "I saw Fitz go into his room with some paper that looked suspiciously just like that. He locked the door." Sophie's heart skipped a beat. Fitz was giving her a present? Maybe it was in celebration of spring? Maybe he wanted to say something?
"Sophie," Biana warned. Sophie looked down and realized she was on the verge of opening it. "It's a trap Soph."
"How do you know?" Sophie asked cynically.
"Sophie! It's April Fools Day! Honestly, sometimes I think you only keep me around to survive high school!" Biana ranted. Sophie slammed her palm against her head. Obviously.
"It's a good thing you haven't ran into Keefe yet!" Biana continued. "He always goes all out, it's like this is his holiday."
Sophie nodded.
"Wait, how do I know you aren't playing any tricks on me?" Sophie demanded, glancing suspiciously around.
"I swear on all my makeup I won't play the Fool's game with you," Biana chuckled, holding out her hand. Sophie reached for it, but at the last moment Biana pulled back.
"I need the same from you too. Girls stick together, or at least us. I don't know what side Linh's on... probably Fitz's."
Sophie thought a moment, then said. "I swear on Iggy I won't play any pranks!" They shook hands firmly.
"What even is Iggy?" Biana said.
"I'm not sure."

Sophie looked both ways, affirmed no one she knew was coming, and darted into the bathroom.
"So, how's it so far?" Biana asked, leaning on one of the mirrors.
"I've successfully avoided being seen by Keefe, and I made sure to disappear after history, so Fitz couldn't prank me."
"Awesome, same with me."
Sophie and Biana had decided, in order to maintain dignity and clean clothes (One April fools Keefe spilled prank jello on Biana's dress) that they would avoid Keefe and the rest of their friends (but mainly Keefe). So far, everything had gone as expected. Unfortunately, at this current time, it was lunch.
"So are we going to eat in the bathroom like weirdos?" Sophie inquired, grasping her cute elephant lunch box.
"I was thinking the nurses office would be pretty nice. Aren't you on first name terms with the nurse?"
"Yeah..." Sophie drawled. She had been injured in P.E. more than a couple times.
"But," Sophie argued, "That would be the first place Keefe would look for us."
