The blinding sun shone off a white sedan as it pulled up. Sophie, Biana, and Dex all looked up, equally terrified, none making the first move towards the car. Today was their first day of drivers training, conveniently after school. An old man got out of the front seat, glasses so thick Sophie was sure he couldn't see out of them.

"Hey kiddos, ready for your first drivers training?" he said, looking at them passively. Sophie and Dex nodded. Only Biana seemed to find her voice.

"Sure, let's get started."

The man hobbled around to the passenger seat.

"So, who's driving first?" he asked. Sophie, Dex, and Biana glanced at each other.

"Nose goes!" Biana shouted, pressing her nose with her index finger. Dex quickly copied her, while Sophie looked at them in confusion. Biana patted her on the back while she moved into the backseat of the car.

"It's okay Soph," she said in mock pity. Dex flashed his dimples at her, following after Biana. Sophie walked around the car to get into the front seat. The old man smiled at her. He turned slightly to the left, making sure he could see everyone in the car.

"I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Mr. Mills. I've been teaching behind the wheel training since my wife died, oh, around twenty years ago." He paused a moment. " You know, back then, all them cars weren't as fussy as they are today. I used to have a real nice sports car, must have been made in the 70's, but you know, they never lasted long." Biana, Dex, and Sophie exchanged a look. Mr. Mills seemed to be the stereotypical long talker type. Sophie tuned back in.

"Cheryl, she was the best. Of course, we didn't have cell phones back then like you young people, we had to phone them up on the landline." He pushed up his thick glasses and mopped his forehead. "Cheryl, I miss her, I really do." He wiped his eyes with a napkin and blew his nose. Biana and Dex looked up; they had obviously not been paying attention.

"Anyhow, let's get this started. What's your name young lady?"

"Sophie Foster," she replied, smiling. Mr. Mills continued introductions with Dex and Biana.

"Okey dokey, let's drive. Sophie, you'll find two pedals under there by your feet. The fat one is the brake, and the skinny one's the gas. Over here." he pointed to the main console, " Is where you shift." He continued to explain the various mechanisms of the car until Sophie left her head was about to burst.

"Alrighty, let's drive."

Sophie followed his directions. She found it easier than she thought. They went up and down the streets around Foxfire. After a half hour, they rotated to Dex. Dex was a super slow driver, causing cars to pile up in a line behind the sedan. Biana and Sophie even started keeping track of how many people honked at him (23, if you were curious). Other than that, however, his lesson was very smooth.

Finally, it was Biana's turn. She strode around the car, jumped in the driver's seat, and buckled up. She backed up incautiously, swerving out blindly. Mr. Mills, slowed her down, using the brake he had on his side of the car.

"Now Biana, don't rush now. It's very dangerous to do what you just did. Always look both ways as you back out, and careful on the gas." Biana nodded. She pulled out onto the street, following Mr. Mill's instructions. They were driving when the light ahead turned yellow. Biana floored the gas, knocking Sophie and Dex against the back seat.

"Aaah!" Biana shouted swerving to avoid a car. Mr. Mills had lost his glasses during Biana's speeding. He searched blindly on the floor. Dex looked back, elbowing Sophie in the ribs. She turned, eyes wide, and immediately ducked back. Behind them, a police car flashed it's lights.

"Uh, Biana?" Dex ventured, looking back again. "You're being pulled over."

"WHAT?" Biana gasped, looking back. She swerved to the side, causing more horns to sound. Mr. Mills had just fixed on his glasses when the policeman came to the side of the vehicle.

"Ma'am, do you know how fast you were going just now?" the policeman asked. Biana pursed her lips, pretending to guess. Sophie admired her courage, knowing she would have been bawling right about now in her position.

"I don't know sir," she said. The officer looked at Mr. Mills.

"I saw from the bumper sticker that this was a Driver's Ed car." he stated. "I'm afraid with reckless driving like this, I can't have you teaching more students, you understand?"

Mr. Mills blinked a few times.

"Sir, I'll have to take these students back with me, since you're incapable of handling them." the officer said. Mr. Mills nodded a few times. The officer motioned for Sophie, Dex and Biana to get out of the car.

"Are we going to jail?" Dex asked. The officer smiled at him.

"No," he chuckled. He opened the door to the police car, and motioned for them to get in.

"What will happen to Mr. Mills?" Biana asked the officer. Somehow, she had managed to grab shotgun.

"Well, he'll most likely get his permit to train students suspended, but he should be alright. Where should you guys be dropped off?" Dex gave him the address to Foxfire.

"Hey guys," Dex said, smiling evilly. "We should make up a story to tell Fitz, Lihn, Keefe and Tam. Remember, they're waiting for us to finish our lesson." Biana and Sophie nodded. The group had organized a sleep over after Driver's Ed. The people who didn't have any activities after school would be gathering snacks and treats.

"That sounds fun." Biana said.

The trio began to conspire.
