Busting out another chapter on this lovely Sunday. Enjoy!
Sophie sat down at her group's lunch table, twins in tow.
"Guys, I would like to introduce you to the Song twins, Tam and Linh!" Sophie said, gesturing to each as she said their name. An eruption of reactions followed.
First, it's important to point out that Tam is very out of place, being in the center of attention and all, so we must pardon any behavior that may seem uncouth.
"Aww, welcome!" Biana exclaimed, "OMG, Lihn, your shirt is so cute!" The girls proceeded to chatter about the foreign world of makeup and outfits, so Sophie tuned out.
Fitz nodded welcome to Tam, then froze mid action when he looked at Lihn. Sophie would later swear she saw his eyes widen 2x bigger.
Dex looked uncomfortable, but after inviting Tam to sit down he seemed okay. Marella floated to their table and greeted them, then talked poor Linh's ear off with a month's worth of gossip.
Keefe looked at Lihn, then narrowed his eyes at Tam. Sophie saw the two exchange wary eye contact. Oh no, she thought, drama already?
However, Keefe and Tam seemed to otherwise remain neutral. Sophie's group adopted the Songs quickly; soon it seemed that they had always been there. The only conflict was between Tam and Keefe, who seemed to be fighting for the role of what Keefe called the "witty eye-candy." (Dex secretly thought he fit this role the best, but he would never admit this.)

"Tam, why did you join football?" Sophie asked him as they sat down on a bench. They had just finished their practices and were taking off their gear. Sophie yanked off a cleat.
"The uniforms matched my bangs," Tam replied dryly, flipping his silvery bangs. Sophie smiled, but pushed on.
"No, the real reason. I know for a fact our school colors clash with silver."
Tam showed a ghost of a smile and sighed.
" I joined because I knew if I didn't, Linh wouldn't pursue her music. With me on the field, she'll feel like we're close when she's playing in the band." he looked sideways at her, "Don't tell anyone, please."
Sophie nodded vigorously, then mentally slapped herself for doing it so vigorously. I think I'm gonna get a headache...
Tam nodded, focusing his attention on taking off the last of his pads. Sophie stood up, Tam echoing her movement. At the same moment, Fitz crossed the field.
"Do you know where Linh is?" he asked, "I borrowed her pencil, and forgot to give it back."
Sophie felt a tinge of jealousy, but cast it aside. Tam looked from Fitz to Sophie, and arched an eyebrow. He glanced in amusement at Fitz.
" I do know where she is," Tam evenly replied. He grabbed his gear. Sophie grabbed hers.
"Could you tell me where she went? It shouldn't take long." Fitz persisted. Tam shook his head, graced Fitz with a fake smile, and returned,
"It's much easier of I just give it to her."
Fitz gave up. He checked his pockets melodramatically( in Sophie's opinion.)
"Oops, I must have left it at school... see you guys." Fitz awkwardly walked away, looking back at them a few times in confusion.
When Sophie looked to Tam, she saw him smiling, unashamed.
"I love messing with people."
