Sophie sat down thankfully at the table. So much had been going on, she could hardly find a spare moment. Her first two months at school had been great.
Dex had become a regular fixture at her house, since chemistry wouldn't let up. Sometimes he just came over to hang out. Marella had proved a surprising friend, as well as an informed gossip. Sophie was glad Marella was on her side.
She still wasn't sure what classes she had with Keefe, because he tended to ditch all the core classes enough to keep her wondering. The only classes she knew she had with him was choir and P.E.
Fitz was in a few of her classes: P.E., AP English, and world history. He was one of the best students, but not in a prideful way. She liked AP English the best, because there were only about 18 people in it. Only the best were in that class. Sophie felt like she was an elite whenever she was in the class.
As she sat, her parents came in with plates piled high with food. The dinner conversation was normal, so Sophie started to daydream... until her dad cleared his throat and looked expectantly at her.
"What? I wasn't listening." Sophie said. Her dad sighed, and this time Edaline spoke.
"We've always known you haven't had the best balance. " she started.
"NO, we are not going back to dance!" Sophie said, panicking. Earlier in her life she had been enrolled in a dance class, and let's just say she wasn't the most promising student. Sophie rubbed the back of her head subconsciously.
"No sweetie, we know your dance is hopeless. Sorry. We instead thought you'd like to try out for soccer. My friend was telling me the other day..." Edaline started rambling, and Sophie knew it was better not to encourage her. Soccer? She had never been a runner, an athlete, or a sports fanatic. But... she had always wanted to try a sport, and soccer wasn't that hard, right? Just kick and score.
"I'll do it." Sophie dragged out thoughtfully. Both of her parents looked up, surprised.
What am I getting into... Sophie wondered.
