"J-Jenny?" Sophie said softly, reaching over and shaking the sleeping teen awake.

Jenny groaned and slowly opened her eyes, peeking at the older girl. "What is it?" She mumbled groggily, not even realizing she had fallen asleep while she and she were talking.

"M-Mister Derrick's been gone for some time now. D-Did he and Master get in a fight?"

"I don't know. Derrick never really got into fights when I thought he was a human. Would that carry on to here?" She mumbled in thought, sitting upright to look around her bedroom.

"M-Master was a bad boy back home. Th-That's what drew me to him. But then..." Sophie trailed off and lowered her head sadly.

"We don't have to talk about that anymore, where'd Smokey go?" Jenny smiled, trying to get her mind off of Derrick and the others mind off of the man who abducted her. On cue, the gray kitten lept out from under the bed onto her lap with a soft mewl. "Oh, found him!" She giggled quietly and pet her cat. "So...what happened? Why did Derrick bring you inside?"

"M-My master-"

"Okay wait. Stop calling him that, you don't have to call him that anymore. His name is Max, right?" She mumbled quietly, folding her arms over her chest.

Sophie nodded in response, timidly glancing over. "Th-Then Mister Max. He left me outside to die, h-he got a pretty blonde woman from Earth a-and tried to kill me off. B-But Mister Derrick saved me."

"Derrick really saved you huh?" Jenny lowered her head and let out a quiet sigh. This made her think. Maybe he wasn't all that heartless after all. Maybe he did have a side that was actually genuine.

Both humans jumped then the demon's bedroom door opened, Derrick waking inside with a slight smirk on his face.

Jenny looked closer at the Calinthro and could see partially dried blood on his fingers. Dark spots on his blue t-shirt. "Derrick, what happened?" She asked curiously, moving to her feet and ignoring the protesting mewl of the kitten.

"You are to call me 'Master' and it is none of your business human." Derrick turned his eyes over to them, once more that terrifying fiery red and black pupil right in the center.

She stared into his eyes, her skin crawling at the sight. He did something. She doesn't know what. He could have gotten into a fight with Max, or a fight with another sort of creature of the Underworld? "I-I know that's a lie." She stuttered, struggling to keep her composure. "Why are you suddenly acting-" She was cut off by a giant fist suddenly slamming down on the apartment floor beside her, rattling the items on the desk and scaring all three beings.

"Didn't I say it was none of your business?" He said in a deep growl, eyes narrowed angrily and fiercely at Jenny.

Sophie's hand gripped Jenny's arm, and Jenny kept her eyes locked on the Calinthro. However, she remained silent. Instead, she turned and lifted Smokey into her arms, nuzzling her face into his soft fur. Frightened tears threatened to well in her eyes. He's looked angry before, but never like that. This was something that horrified her. Never had she seen such a cruel, cold stare. "I-I'm sorry Master."

Sophie looked back and forth between the frightened teen and horrifying demon, hands shaking as she tried to remain composed.

"That's what I thought." Derrick curled his fingers tightly around Jenny's thin form, lifting her up. His lips curled into a smirk. "Scared?"

Jenny couldn't respond. Only stare into the hellfire that was his eyes. The feel of his skin against her own made her stomach churn as normal, and she was trembling against his palm. Dried and wet blood smearing on her arms and clothing. Working up enough courage, she squeaked out a small sentence. "P-Please stop."

"'Please stop.'" Derrick repeated in a whiny, mocking tone. "You make me physically sick. Do you know how much I'd love to snap your pretty little body right in half?"

She flinched in fear, tears pushing past and flowing from her chocolate brown orbs. Quietly, she began to sob, fear overtaking whatever other feelings she had previously had. "M-Master, please!"

"Mister Derrick!" Sophie cried out, worried about one of the only friends she has in this horrifying world. She could see pain and fear written clearly on Jenny's face. "L-Let her go, please!"

Derrick stared at the human in his grasp, images of her laughing and smiling pushing past the dark, clouded parts of his mind, bringing him back to reality. His eyes began to fade to green. A sharp pain in his gums as his teeth retracted. "J-Jenny." He stuttered, dropping her into his clean, open palm. "Oh, shit, my pet..." He murmured in a calm voice, attempting to calm the human.

He slowly began to remember just what had happened. Max had tricked him. He had purposefully tempted the demonic side of him, forcing him to lose partial control of his body and mind. He hated when that happens, and thankfully it isn't a lot. He just has to find some way to tell that to Jenny and Sophie, to calm them. Jenny already thought he was a major asshole, so what would this do to her thoughts of him?

"L-Leave me alone!" Jenny screamed, startling even him. "L-Leave me alone, leave me alone!"

Carefully he lowered her into her own bed in the tiny apartment he made for her. His brows furrowed in concern, he took a step back. Had it been any other moment she screamed at him, he probably would have punished her. But he has to make sure she calms down and returns to her usual sassy self. "Keep an eye on her Sophie." He said quietly. "I have a few things I need to take care of."

Sophie watched as the giant demon vanished right before her eyes, then turned to Jenny with a deep frown. "Jenny..."
