Chapter 10:Happiness and Contentment.

Everyone's bags were packed and preparations to leave for the next day were being made. I gathered Ryuu's, Leo's and my bags and put them at the front of the apartment. It was around 5:30 in the evening and Ryuu was speaking to his father about last minute preparations; it is a lot of work to relocate a pride, especially a large one. Leo was sleeping peacefully in his cot. I decided to wake him and have him 'help' me prepare dinner. I don't want him waking up in the middle of the night wide awake because he slept too early.

I opened the door to our room and peer in before pushing the door open fully and walking in. I chuckle when I see Leos' sleeping figure tangled in the blankets with his arms wrapped around his pillow. I bent down and shook him lightly as I whispered, "Leo honey, time to wake up."

He squirmed in his sleep but didn't wake up so I shook him again lightly. "Baby, come on, do you want to help me make dinner?"

He stirred a bit before his eyes slowly opened, he blinked a couple of times, squinted at me then stretched. He reached out to me signalling that he wanted me to pick him up. I lifted Leo out of his cot and balanced him on my hip. Grabbing his dummy and milk bottle to wash on the way out of the room. I headed into the kitchen.

I set Leo on the kitchen counter, gave him his dummy then put his bottle in the sink. I walked around the kitchen taking out the ingredients needed to make a simple pasta bake dish. Setting a large pan of water on the stove I leave it to boil. Once the water started to boil I pour the raw pasta in and leave it to cook. While the pasta was cooking I started making the pasta sauce.

"Mama I help." Leo said while reaching for the spice rack. Before the rack falls on him I pushed it back and grab Leo, moving him to the other side of the stove.

"How about you mix the sauce." I said to him while pouring some cream, milk, grated cheese and other ingredients to bring out the flavour in a smaller saucepan and put it on low heat. I gave him a small wooden spoon and watched as he carefully stirred the mixture. His eyes are squinted as he concentrates on not spilling the mixture. I felt my ears twitch as I heard the door of the apartment open, Ryuu was back.

Humming a tune, I took the spoon from Leo's hand and proceeded to pour the sauce over the pasta which was in a large dish almost ready to be served. As soon a I was done warm, familiar, muscled arms wrapped themselves around me. I felt Ryuu press his lips to the side of my head then he buried his head in my neck and breathed in before releasing a sigh.
"Stressful work with your dad?" I asked while turning around in his arms and wrapping my own arms around his torso. He let out a mumble of agreement before leaning down to give me a kiss. My eyes fluttered close as I returned his kiss. He pulls back pecking my lips once more before resting his forehead against my own.
"He is stressing about every little thing even after mum and I are making sure all the preparations are being done properly."
I let out a small laugh. Ryuu leaned back and peered at me with a small smirk on his face. "Are you laughing at my misfortune, mate?"
"Hardly, love." I bring my hands up to his face and cup his face in them. "Your father is only doing what he believes is best for his pack and his family. He cares for you all and wouldn't want to
lose any of you due to carelessness," I kiss his forehead. "And if he believes checking the perpetrations multiple times is a way to make sure nothing goes wrong, who are we to keep a man from protecting the ones he cares for. Be patient with him I'm sure he is only worried for everyone; he is after all moving his entire pride to a land foreign to them. Who knows what dangers could await us on the journey there?"
