Chapter 2: A Series Of Events

Moriko

I was surrounded by darkness. Where am I, what the hell is going on? I heard a familiar roar, and then I realised what was going on. I was dreaming, and this was my nightmare. The question is which gone?

My surrounding started to blur and I could hear the distant sound of metal clashing. I then knew where I was, it was the battle with Dark wood, the pack that had taken my father's life. Rage boiled through me as I plunged through the shifting light to reach my family.

This was the battle that happened 4 years ago, the one that had led me to fake my death because of my moronic so called best friend. The one that had caused pain and suffering, loss and hatred. The one that needed to be avenged. My head started buzzing and my body started glowing the colours of the rainbow. Great, I'm turning into the human rainbow. I made a joke out of it even though I was really freaking out. You know you're a weirdo when your body starts glowing. My vision clouded and a comforting darkness enveloped me, pulling me into a deep sleep.

I woke up to the sound of a hoot. Taking it into consideration that I was currently in the forest laying on the cool soil, I hoped it was just an owl. I felt something soft and warm, looking down I see Spirit's body curled around mine. Her head resting in my lap as she snoozed. I smiled and looked up, there was a small fire flickering, panic overtook as I couldn't recall the time that took place before I knocked out. Where were we? I felt as if it were dé jàvu asking the same questions over again. What happened to Ryuu and that creature that I now realised was a griffin. It then dawned on me what Ryuu had been trying to tell me earlier, the griffin was his familiar.

The thought took long to process as, like Ryuu I also thought I was the only one with an unordinary creature as a familiar. I heard a low growl which jolted me out of my thoughts. I looked around and saw Ryuu sleeping on the griffin. I smiled but still felt awkward to be stared down by a giant beast. I studied Ryuu then looked up to see the griffin looking straight at me. Its gaze looked menacing as if to say "You hurt Ryuu and I hurt you much worse." Spirit must have sensed my discomfort, as she woke up. She got up, shook her fur and looked at the griffin. She let out a snarl as if to answer the griffin's statement "And I'll hurt you making you wish you were never even born."

I got up and walked around, trying to get rid of the numbness in my legs. What had happened whilst I'd been sleeping? As if he kept track of my movements Ryuu shot up. He yawned in a cat-like manner and I caught sight of his incisors they were slightly sharp and gleamed in the firelight. He stretched and his shirt rode up, I could see his muscles rippling as the movement was made. There was a scar across his stomach. I frowned trying to recall where I had seen it, it looked vaguely familiar. My head began pounding as I tried recalling why that scar looked so familiar. Where had I seen it before? I groaned and clutched my head as pain blasted through it. Why couldn't I remember?

"Like something you see?" I growled at his cocky attitude, he mistook me staring as admiring of him. There is no way I am letting him get to me, he was still a stranger as far as I knew. I thought about the recent events that had happened. He might know what happened to me. I slowly turned my gaze toward him, worry consumed me as I tried not to think of all the negative thing that could have happened while I was out if it. Trying not to let my voice wobble I asked.

"What happened to me?"

Ryuu

Her voice wobbled and although she was trying to put a brave face on it wasn't working. It took a lot to convince me into believing something I wasn't seeing. I knew she was scared, even though she was trying to hide it. Humour gone, I decided to get straight to the point.
