The plan was simple. Winter would take Moon to the Seven Scales Cascades, located by the old tunnel used by the NightWings to escape their volcanic prison. He would ask her if they could be together more than friends, and she would say yes. Piece of cake!
"Winter, where are we headed too next?"
"The Seven Scales Cascades. I know how you love the water. Plus, maybe we'll se an elusive scavenger."
"Claws and scales, Winter! Why are you so obsessed with scavengers?"
Winter felt his snout turn bright red. "They're interesting, kind of like how you see scrolls."
"Oh yes, scrolls, umm hum." She glanced off, obviously in deep thought.
They flew in silence. Was it just him, or was Moon acting a little strange? Focus on your declaration of love to Moon. Winter chastised himself. Be a strong IceWing prince!
Winter and Moon approached the Cascades shortly. Millions of gallons of water seeped over large, metallic, precious metals. The Cascades were known for their rare supply of firestone, which was rumored to be an animus-touched stone powering the volcanos to keep an ancient force hidden. Firestone was a very useful source of flint in the Ice Kingdom. Every time a huge spray of water hit the stones, the made a sizzling sound, giving the Cascades a unique beat, almost like an unsung melody. They were also known to be home to a colony of scavengers who used the ample fruit and water found by the waterfall.
"Moon, I need to ask you something."
"Yes?" She looked at him expectingly.
"Will you be m-?"
Moon's voice shot us three octaves as she interrupted him. "Winter? Oh my moons, look behind you. Pray you somehow know that giant dragon that just emerged out of the tunnel and is pointing a dart gun at us?" She put her head in her talons and mumbled something about chores. Really Moon? At a time like now?
Winter whirled around, frostbreath at the tip of his tongue, claws and barbed tail ready to lash out at an attacker.
"I have to kill you know since you've seen me. But first a little interrogation. Wait, I left the interrogator at my cave, well, better bring you here!"
Winter could see the outline of a black dragon's head and a RainWing dart gun in his hands.
"Dang, I have to sedate Kinkajou! I liked her..."
Before Winter could question the last statement, a dart whizzed toward him and painfully embedded itself in his scales.
Everything went black.
A/n: finally!! Some action. The main conflict is coming! And it's going to be good! ;p
