...AlexPOV...

I was in so much pain, it felt like I was run over by a car. My limbs were heavy with a burning sensation. My head was dizzy as if I spun in circles. I looked down and saw clear blue lights on the floor, hanging over it like little flames showing me the way.

Where am I? a little fear set in me, but I cannot let it consume me. My body didn't follow my advice, even in pain, it started to shake.

"Hello? Is there someone?" my shaking voice attempted to say it with confidence to no avail. Smart move Alex, you know what happens in the movies when people say that, they die, I thought, mentally slapping myself.

I saw smoke coming out of my mouth, yet I wasn't feeling cold. Very strange, this place is getting weirder by the minute.

I looked up and there was nothing, just blackness. I saw that the little flames grew stronger. Their blue lights let me notice the markings on the wall. I could perceive an unknown language sculpted into the walls. As I went closer and tried to touch it, my hand just passed through the stone.

I jumped back. Is this some kind of joke? How the hell did my hand went through? If that is the case it means I am..., I couldn't even fantom this idea.

"Calm down Alex, see it in a good way, we don't have any more test," I  said trying to get my mind back into positive thinking. To take my mind of this, I examined the inscriptions on the wall.

Hieroglyphs! I looked at it in shock. Why the hell am I seeing this here?

I started to walk towards the direction the blue flames were showing me. I noticed beautiful paintings on the walls. Some were of people working in the fields another had a goddess that had a head of a crocodile and half a body of a lion and the other half was a hippopotamus. She was devouring something that looked like a heart. Next to it seemed to be a balance where a feather was on one side and in the other a heart.

I know this, come on Alex think. Right! My father's books of ancient history. He loved to read them to me and he had such patience to explain every detail. Although he sugarcoated it. This thoughts of my father almost made me tear up, but I redirected my attention back on the painting with a smiling grin.

"This is the Duat, the realm of the dead in ancient Egypt," I was speaking to myself. This is where humans were judged and if they were unsullied they would go to the afterlife.

"Okay, so I am in something that talks about the dead and the afterlife of ancient Egypt, but why?" I was trying to get my head wrapped around this. So I could know why I was here.

"Maybe I am dreaming," I pinched myself just to be sure.

"Ouch! no definitely not dreaming at all, dammit." I'm stupid though. I was in full pain before, why the hell do I still believe I am dreaming. Argh, my logic is so good. Sarcastically criticizing myself.

I began to walk again, scanning the paintings and words. Unfortunately, I couldn't understand a thing., but the paintings were becoming more beautiful each step I took. Some of the were ornamented with gold and bright colours.

Glowing yellow light from one of the flames caught my attention. It wasn't following the path of the others. It was all alone and it seemed as if it was the destination I had to go. I ran towards it, but the pain in my legs returned because of the fast movements. I didn't care. A moment before I reached the light, the ground started to tremble which made me fall. Suddenly, I heard a loud noise, the ground opened itself and I fell into oblivion.
