Alex

...

Neith made us appear back into the middle were most that were alive were standing. Looking towards her.

Her voice flew through the entire battlefield. Her shakiness made me sad, but although she was sad not one tear did she shed. She was completely appalled by this. She was wearing a very long green dress that was scintillating with the light of the sun. She looked around herself, the beautiful green land was burned black. Bodies everywhere from gods to magical creatures. She put her hand on the ground and in a space of moments, all those bodies appeared laid down next to her. All mummified, aligned beside each other.

She got up and moved towards the middle, she seemed human but her confidence made sure that we all knew she wasn't to be toyed with.

"Charles my dear boy, what are you doing?" Her voice was weird I couldn't make out any emotions.

"We are fighting for the freedom of our people. You didn't since you are always at the side of the gods." My father's voice was cracking, he was completely red and sweat was falling down his face. The atmosphere was full of anger it was heavy. It made me feel even worse after seeing all of this killing.

"I do understand your pain my boy, but war isn't the answer. It never is. The first war already cost us a lot of lives on both sides. Killing all of my pupils and my kind including my brother, your grandfather." Her voice broke for a fraction of seconds when she mentioned her brother.

"You know nothing, you never did how can you side with them? Look what they did, humans took power and don't even fear us! Some of them don't even believe in us! Humans were never meant to be this powerful. They are building weapons that might one-day equal our power!" His screams moved towards the entire battlefield. His army screaming in agreement.

"This is what all of this is about? Do you want power over humans? You will never get it, Charles, humans aren't stupid. The gods learned that lesson when the mother created them. I am myself human or do you forgot? The gods didn't give humans power it was our mother. They aren't all at their side, but humans have a power none of us will ever possess." Although mad she always spoke calmly but her eyes were on rage. Dark clouds were slowly forming over us.

"You are a stupid whore, humans are weak and stupid they should be slaves!" His words made my body shiver, no one deserves to be a slave.

She made a fist, this movement made the ground under her feet break. "Weak? Look at them and I mean look. They have one power we cannot ever defy!"

"What is it that power?"

"Belief," she was walking closer to him and with each movement, a word came out. "The only reason you have even the slightest chance to fight the gods is that humans stopped believing in most of the gods. Their power is not limited besides by belief and by the remnant magic of our mother."

My father's eyes widened." How can they have that kind of power? We also believe in them!"

"You do not believe like they do Charles, they believed in them without even seeing them. They have blind faith. Unfortunately for us, the 20 century is bringing more challenges each day, they are turning their backs on the old gods and even on religion itself which weakens the gods each day." She looked behind her, her face seemed worried.

"The gods are monsters and liars. You can say how much you want but most are not fighting to protect humans but to make sure they do their bidding and to make us slaves. You are telling a lie, most are only protecting their power."

"Of course they can Charles, but the majority are not!" She wasn't having any more of this stupidity. "Now my boy tell me why you are really doing this war with your people? To save your kind? Theirs? Or for power?"
