Chapter Sixteen: Bad Behaved Boys

October first dawns, bringing sunlight in the room. It's a Saturday and our first quidditch practice is today. I'm woken up by James who is violently shaking me. "Padfoot! Wake up, we gotta get down to practice!" I groan and roll over. I smack James in the face and bury my face in my pillow. I don't want to get up. "Sirius!" I hear James' yell right before I get pummeled with what I assume is a pillow.

I finally sit up as James' hits get harder. "Would you stop it?" I groaned as I dragged myself out of bed. "We're gonna be late if you don't hurry up," James replies. He was already dressed and ready to go. I found this surprising but didn't say anything as I pulled on some clothes and headed downstairs with James. We were both carrying our brooms that James' parents had gotten us. The Potters were a pretty wealthy family and to say they spoiled James was an understatement.

We arrive at the quidditch pitch a few minutes late. There was a crowd of people around waiting for us. James was captain of the quidditch team and whoever assigned him the position was a bloody idiot. "Okay everyone! Mount your brooms and let's get started!" James yelled to everyone.

Once quidditch practice started I could see a small group of people in the stands observing. From in the air it's hard to make out who they are. I fly closer and spot Peter and Remus sitting next to each other and a couple seats up I see Lily and a group of her friends. Including Marlene. These past two weeks Marlene has not given up trying to get back together. She has tried everything between flirting and trying to make me jealous by being with other guys.  None of it has worked though, I'm still not interested.

"Padfoot! What the bloody hell are you doing?!" I heard James yell. I turn my head away from the group of girls in time to see a bludger heading straight towards me. With perfect timing, I raise my bat and hit it at hard as I can. The bludger goes flying through the air and heads towards the group of girls. They all scatter except one girl. Marlene doesn't see the bludger coming and gets hit hard in the shoulder. "Nice one Padfoot!" James yells from across the pitch. Since learning about my breakup with Marlene, James has nonstop been talking shit about Marlene. He found that it really helped lift my mood since Marlene's been bringing it down.

Madam Hooch, who has been observing the practice, blows her whistle as she runs to Marlene. "Potter!" She yells at his unnecessary comment. I laugh as James corrects himself. "Sorry! I mean shame on you Sirius!" We all fly to the ground as practice is put on hold. Marlene is being taken to the hospital wing by Madam Hooch. "Not a broom leaves the ground while I'm gone! Understood?" We all nod except James and I who roll our eyes and grin.  Once she leaves James and I mount our rooms to resume practice.

After practice James and I head up to our dorm room to change clothes and put our brooms away. Remus and Peter join us as we make our way through the castle. "Madam Hoochie needs to calm the bloody hell down, why does she need to supervise us anyway?" Madam Hooch had been yelling at the team for about twenty minutes once she had returned and found us on our broomsticks. "Umm...maybe because you don't know how to follow rules and almost every time you practice someone needs taken to the hospital wing?" Remus suggested logically. James shook his head,"that's besides the point, I'm a great leader. And that hit you made back there Padfoot was bloody brilliant! Sure put her arse in her place!"  Peter, James and I roared with laughter. Remus shook his head disapprovingly.

Once the boys and I were back in our common room and James and I were changed we sat on our favorite couch by the fireplace. Things had gotten back to normal between Remus and I. Remus assumed that I was just upset over my breakup with Marlene. I was sitting between James and Remus when James decided to reach across Remus and I to the table at the end of the couch by Remus. "Look chocolate frogs!" James bellowed as I was pushed into Remus so hard that I fell into his lap. I sat up as far as I could with James still pushing against me and found my face inches from Remus' crotch. Damn, now that I'm this close it looks pretty big. I wonder if- no Sirius! Think holy thoughts. Don't do this to yourself.

James pulled away after grabbing the chocolate frogs and I sat up quickly trying to hide my embarrassment with anger. "Really Prongs?" I groaned as Remus shot me a strange look. "You okay, mate? Your face is all red." I tugged at the sleeve of my leather jacket and quickly pulled it off. "Yeah, it's just bloody hot in here," I made up an excuse as I threw my jacket across the room lazily.

"Ow! Really Sirius?!" I heard a voice yell. I looked up to find Marlene about to leave the common room. She had a jacket on and she was carrying her school bag. "Where are you going?" I asked not really caring too much. Marlene softens her face a bit,"Sirius can we talk?" I groan inwardly. The last thing I want to do is talk to her. I would rather have my face shoved into Remus' lap again, but that doesn't exactly sound bad...wait what? I shake the thoughts out of my head before answering. "Not interested," I say in a dull tone which sets Marlene off. "Whatever, fine. Then don't expect me to tell you anything. You don't deserve to know anyways!" She yelled as she looked about to cry. Before I could say anything else Marlene was out the door and I was left with the boys.

"What was that about?" Remus asked in a confused voice. "Hell if I know," I reply as I'm just as confused as Remus. "Well let's find out!" James suggested as he jumped up and ran to the portrait hole. "Let's follow her and see where she's going!" I jump up and follow James too along with Peter. Remus sighs, knowing we'll make him follow us if he doesn't on his own.

We exit the common room in time to see Marlene turn a corner. We quickly follow her not being as quiet as we should be. We follow Marlene until we end up at... "Dumbledores office?" I said confused even more. "Come on, I told you this was pointless." Remus said with a sigh. "Let's wait for her," James said and this time I wasn't as eager to go ahead with his plan. "It's probably not that important anyways. She was just trying to get to me." James shakes his head before saying,"well she won't be in there long I'm sure so let's just wait and see, yeah?"

Remus and I groan but agree with James anyways. We sit in the corridor waiting for Marlene to reappear for two hours before James finally gives up and we head to the common room again. "I thought for sure she wouldn't be in there that long! Damn, what's she doing? Having sex with Dumbledore?" I laugh a little at his comment before we hear footsteps. We turn around to see Marlene appear outside Dumbledores office.

The boys and I quickly hide as we watch her. She steps out into the corridor with a look of worry on her face and muttered to herself, just loud enough for us to hear.

"The doctors with save him," she gave herself a reassuring nod and walked away.
