"I am happy"
She states with a big smile
But her eyes, oh her eyes
They are so deep in sorrow
Satisfied with the smile alone
People leave her on her own
And the smile slowly fades
As she starts to wonder why
Another person comes
And she does it again
Like a robot
She mechanically follows the pattern
"I am happy"
Her voice falters
But her wide smile was enough
So they leave her alone once again
And as if it was automatic
The smile from her face vanishes
Like an alarm
That was silenced
They come again
With enough intervals in between
And she does it again and again
She does what she was supposed to say
"I am happy"
"I am happy"
"I am happy"
"I am happy"
She repeats the same sentence
Accompanied with that same big smile
And slowly, her eyes starts to water
And she cannot fathom why
She is happy
Her smile is enough proof of that
Her words are enough
Her eyes
"I am happy"
She whispers with that same big smile
Her words satisfying everyone
But her eyes, her eyes are crying
Why is she crying?
She's smiling
She's saying she's happy
So why?
But no, her words are enough
Let us not question her
She is happy
Everyone concludes
"Am I happy?"
She asks them
Her big smile looking awkward
Her eyes still crying
Everyone nods
Goes on their way
Some pats her back
And gives her a big smile
She looks at them confused
She's crying
Her smile is gone
And yet, they think she's still happy
"I am not happy"
She states
Everyone stops to look at her
Like she's an object in display
For a minute there was silence
And then everyone rushed to her
Why aren't you happy?
You're supposed to be happy
She shakes her head but they don't stop
Smile! Smile! Smile!
They shout as they paint her a smile
One even dries her tears to no avail
"I AM NOT HAPPY"
She screams, her voice still unheard
Frustrated at the people
Who keeps on pushing her
The smile was painted beautifully
But she's still crying
So they cover her eyes
And made it look as if she was happy
Everyone stares
Everyone judges her appearance
Everyone was finally satisfied
So they whispered
"You are happy"
And with a big smile
They leave her on her own
Sitting on the floor
Her eyes covered with fake ones
Her face painted with a wide smile
But her tears keep on pouring
And everyone waits
They wait for that sentence
That will finally let them go
So she cries her heart out and states
"I am happy"
