A/N : Before we begin, I would like to dedicate this chapter to a classmate of mine that passed away due to unfortunate circumstances. You will be dearly missed and forever loved. Rest well, Angel.

I didn't have to say anything to Sarah for her to know that Francesca's dad was a sore subject.

The evil look in my eye could've had a row of the world's bravest men cowering.

She sighed softly before turning back to the steering wheel, her eyes trained on the droplets falling on the windshield. She looked defeated. I couldn't help but feel a bit guilty.

I allowed myself to face the windshield too. My emotions were getting the best of me and I wasn't willing to show her that I was weak. Not again.

Her voice was hoarse when she spoke again, "I don't know what's happened to you, Alex, but there's no point in shutting people out, who're trying to help you. I get it. You're mad at the world and you feel like you can't trust anyone. Funny thing, I used to be the same way." She released a soft humorless chuckle, "Yeah. My point is, I'm here for you."

I wanted to trust her. I desperately needed someone in this town to lean on but I wasn't prepared to get hurt again. I needed to trust her.

I pushed away all the doubt in my mind and opened up. For the first time in years I spoke to someone other than a psychologist or therapist. And it felt amazing.

Every little detail I throw at her, she carefully digested and allowed me to proceed. She would gasp at all the obscene moments and she'd tears when I was at the brink of them too. Her comforting hand hadn't left mine throughout the duration of my recount.

We hadn't realised how late it had gotten when I had finished. The sky was now dark blue and the rain had eased up.

Once again she embraced me.

"Well fuck, your life sucks ass." She said.

I couldn't help but nod along, solemnly, "Yeah, it's pretty shit."

Suddenly, Sarah's mobile device screeched throughout the confinement of the car.

She sent me an apologetic smile and answered.

"Hello?" She said.

I heard the muffled voice of the person on the other side of the line, but decided to give Sarah the privacy she deserved.

I took this time to check up on the two little girls, fast asleep on the backseat. They had both somehow tangled themselves into a mass of limbs. I couldn't help but smile softly as I watched upon them.

"Yeah, whatever. I'm on my way." Sarah said was she ended her call.

"For fuck sake."

"What's up?" I enquired.
