| Kellin's POV |

I never really understood how someone could walk down the hall with confidence oozing at their seams. I always shrank in on myself and kept my eyes downcast. I tried to blend in with the crowd in hopes no attention was drawn on me and I avoided social interaction of any kind. I found it hard to walk from class to class without anxiety creeping inside my mind and attacking me from every angle. Vic on the other hand didn't have that problem.

He walked with a confident stride and a sureness in his steps. He smiled at anyone who looked his way and called out at a few. He was a likable person. He had this warm, friendly energy that came off of him in waves and as much as it made me nervous to walk down the halls with him, my need to outweighed it. I didn't want attention drawn on me and I had a tendency to shy away when people took notice of my presence but I liked walking through the halls with Vic. He made me feel comfortable and wanted. He was always waiting after every class and he always greeted me with a smile. Being around him made that anxiety disappear.

So as he pulled me towards Mike and his group of friends I took a deep breath and placed a smile on my face.
"Hey Mikey." Vic said and smiled towards his brother.
"Hey Vic. Hey Kellin." Mike said and waved at me. I nodded back at him with a smile and he turned to his small group of friends.
"So guys this is my big brother Vic and his friend Kellin." He pointed to us. "You two this is Jaime, Tony, and Matty." They all said hey with big smiles and immediately jumped into a conversation with Vic. I stood slightly behind them all and watched as they interacted. The words slipped off their tongues smoothly and they laughed with ease. I envied them all. I could only hope to have a conversation one day without stuttering like a fool.

"Hey." I heard and felt someone bump into my shoulder softly. I looked up and saw the redhead boy from earlier smiling at me.
"H-hi."
"I'm Matty. Kellin right?"
"Y-yeah, t-that's m-m-me." I mentally slapped myself as I stuttered.
"Okay good. I'm terrible at names so I wanted to make sure. So I've never seen you before. Are you new too?" He asked and leaned against the nearby locker.
"N-no. I've a-always w-went here." I said and twisted my fingers nervously.
"Oh. How come I've never seen you before? What year are you?"
"I-I l-like t-to blend in. I'm a-a j-junior."
"Do you always stutter?" He asked. I wrapped my arms around myself and nodded. I hated when people asked me that question. I couldn't help it, even if it was stupid.

"Ohh okay." He nodded along. "I'm a senior." I nodded once again. "Yea I met Mike in my Science class. He's cool ya know? Vic seems pretty chill too. You guys hang out a lot?" Once again I only nodded my head. I didn't really want to speak anymore since my stutter was brought up. Attention was drawn to it and I hated attention.
"Ya know you can talk. I get you have a stutter but it's not an excuse to be rude."

I scowled at him. "I-I'm s-s-sorry b-but s-since you b-brought it u-up I-it m-makes i-it w-worse and I d-didn't w-want to em-embarrass myself a-anymore." He just looked at me a moment, not saying anything before he started laughing. I looked down at the ground again and felt my eyes sting, warning me of tears.
"Listen..." Matty started but I just shook my head and turned on my heels. I didn't get far because a hand was placed on my arm and soon Vic was standing in front of me.
"Hey where are you go-, why are you crying?" He asked worriedly. I reached a hand up and wiped under my eyes, feeling the wetness of the few tears that had escaped. I just shook my head at Vic. "Did he say something to you Kells?" I just shrugged and he asked me again to tell him.
"S-s-stutter." I muttered out finally.

"I'll be right back." He said and let go of my arm I turned and saw him walk up to Matty who was looking at us in concern.
Vic said something to him and his eyes widened and he shook his head. He said something back to Vic and then Vic looked back at me. They both started walking over and I wrapped my arms around myself again.

"Kellin," Matty started. "I wasn't making fun of your stutter. I was trying to say I didn't care about it. It's fine you have a stutter I just thought it was rude that you weren't talking back. I'm sorry." He apologized. I looked up at him and Vic. Vic was scowling at him and Matty was looking at me with an apologetic expression.
"I-its o-okay." I said quietly. Matty smiled widely.
"Great!" He then pulled me into a hug. My eyes got wide and I hugged him back quickly then pulled away.
"O-okay I'm g-gonna g-go." I said and pointed towards the door. Matty nodded with a little wave and then went back to Mike and his other friends.

I looked back at Vic and he smiled at me.
"Ready to go? Or do you need to stop by your locker?"
"I-I'm ready. What a-about Mike?"
"He's going home with Tony and I'm going home with you."
"R-really now?" I said as we started towards the school doors.
"Yep. I've got nothing to do tonight so I'm gonna hang with my best bud." He lightly knocked his shoulder into mine and slipped both of his hands into his pockets.

When we opened the doors to the parking lot I let out an annoyed sigh. It was raining. Hard. I looked back at Vic, getting ready to ask him if he would mind pulling his car up here since I had forgotten my jacket, to see him taking off his hoodie.
"Here put this on and I'll go grab my car." He said handing me the soft hoodie.
"I-if you p-pull the car around I w-wont need it." I pointed out.
"Yes. You could still get wet and if you get wet you could get sick. That's not gonna happen on my watch."
"B-but what about you?"
"I'm basically Superman, I'll be just fine." He said and gave me a goofy grin before sprinting off through the rain.
