Someone please explain why ex's think it's okay to just show up in your messages like "hey you look cute" and then "I think I've found THE one. We're so happy together." And "secretly under this shirt I have a bite mark they gave me"
Just like fuck you. Go away.

| Kellin's POV |

I smiled up at Vic as he bent the corner of the page to mark our spot. We had been here for four hours, just reading, and it had been a blast. As boring as it may have seemed it was right up my alley. I had curled myself up into a ball and rested against Vic's side as he read. He gave me a sense of comfort and that along with how memorizing his voice was, it was like I was in a trance. I had read the story at least five times but it sounded so new coming from his lips.

As we left the library Vic promised me we would come back sometime to read some more and I couldn't help the smile that it brought to my lips. He talked the whole drive back and I listened intently to every word he had to say. He was basically just rambling but it was just great to talk, well listen, to a friend. Vic's conversation was endless and when I decided to speak up he didn't seem annoyed by my stutter and I may be mistaken but his smile seemed to widen every time I talked back.

When we pulled up in my driveway I felt a frown forming on my lips. I didn't really want to leave Vic. We were having a lot of fun and it was really nice. I glanced over at him to already see him looking at me. I felt my cheeks heat up slightly and I quickly looked down at my lap.
"T-thanks Vic." I said. "I-i h-had a lot of f-fun."
"I'm glad!" He said cheerily. "It was nice doing something simple like that. It was just nice hanging out with you." He laughed. I smiled down at my hands and then reached for the door handle.
"B-bye."
"See ya Kells. Text me later, okay?" I nodded. I got out of the car and made my way up the porch. I turned around to wave at Vic before I went inside. He waved back and then started backing his way out of the driveway.

Once I got inside I couldn't stop the smile on my face. I slipped my shoes off and danced my way into the living room.
"Someone's had a good day." I heard my Dad chuckle. I stopped dancing and turned to him with a sheepish smile.
"Y-yeah."
"Well what all happened?" He asks as he motioned me towards the kitchen with him. I hopped up on the counter and he started getting the stuff he needed to cook dinner from the fridge.
" School w-was school but V-Vic and I-I left. He took me to the library across town. W-we were there for like h-hours! W-we, well h-he, read H-Harry Potter to me and we drank hot chocolate. It was amazing!" I rambled without thinking.

I saw a smirk spread across my Dads face.
"You skipped school?" My eyes widened and I chuckled nervously.
"Ummm w-well, s-see, w-we..." I trailed off. I looked up at him worried. I didn't mean to break the rules and I'm sure I'm going to get in trouble but if I do I'll deserve it. I did something I wasn't supposed to.
"Calm down Kellin." I heard my Dad say and then felt his hands on my shoulders.
"You're fine. You're not in trouble. I promise. Just don't make a habit of it." He chuckled. "I don't really care as long as you're safe and you don't get caught by the school."
"R-really?"
"Yes Kellin." He gave me a reassuring smile. "Now tell me," he let go of me and went back to washing the potatoes. "Was this a date?"
"Huh?"
"You and Vic. Was the library a date?"
"W-what? N-no. Dad he's j-just my friend.   We both know no one would date me."
"Kellin don't say that."
"Dad I have to f-face the f-facts someday. I'm not meant to be w-with anyone, but that's okay." I shrugged my shoulders. "B-but no, this wasn't a date."

My Dad just nodded his head. We sat in silence for a bit. I just watched as he wrapped the potatoes to put them in the oven and got the steaks ready. I kicked my feet lightly and listened as the meat started to sizzle in the pan. I felt my stomach roll slightly as the smell of the cooking food wafted up to my nose. I inhaled deeply. It smelled amazing. My Dad was an amazing cook. Always had been. I glanced down at the pan and my stomach rolled again. It looked so greasy but so good. This time instead of rolling my stomach growled. I could have a couple bites right? It wouldn't hurt me too bad. Surely I couldn't gain that much from a couple bites of steak.

"Kells?" I heard my Dad say. I jerked my head up to his and he was looking at me with a worried face.
"Y-yeah?"
"Are you okay?" I nodded.
"Just a little hungry." I admitted. My Dad tried to hide the look of surprise on his face. It had been forever since I had admitted I was hungry.
"Well it'll be ready in just a minute." He said with a smile. I nodded again and looked back down at the food. I could let myself enjoy one meal right?
