The food in my room had been disposed of, and I sat at the table with my head resting on my arms, tears still wetting the smooth wooden surface. It was dark outside and no light was streaming through the window, but the few guards outside were talking amongst themselves to pass the night away as they took their watch for the night. I couldn’t see him, but I knew Zuer was standing guard on the other side of the locked door. It should have been safe.
