Bricktown Beast

Chapter 20: March 29 - Thursday

Brick Beach is having a surfing competition and there is a small crowd of people standing on the beach watching. Some of the people in the crowd are Savannah, Frank, Nicole and Matt. Two of the surfers are Dennis and Danny. The people in the crowd are wearing light jackets and long pants and the surfers are wearing wet suits. It is the afternoon and there are very few clouds in the sky with a calm breeze.

Over by the snack stand is the Mayor with Demer and McArthur guarding him, while Sam and Sara are over by the foot of the walkway.

Dennis and Danny both run into the water after the other two surfers exit the water. Dennis is lying on his stomach on his surfboard and Danny is right next to him. Both of them are waiting for a big wave to come up.

"Prepare to lose Danny boy!" Dennis shouts as he stands up on his surfboard to catch the wave coming at them.

Danny sees the wave and tries to stand up on his surfboard, but the wave winds up knocking him over and the surfboard hits him on the head. Danny returns to the surface of the water after falling into the water and sees what looks like to be a shark fin, "Oh no is that a shark?" Danny grabs his surfboard and tries to swim as fast as he can to the shore. When he gets to the shore he trips over his own two feet and falls onto his stomach and he looks up and sees Dennis is looking over him holding his surfboard, "I think there is a shark in the water, Dennis."

Dennis picks Danny up by his back collar and stares into his eyes, "I think you're just afraid I'll beat you again!"

"No, there really is a shark, I swear!"

Dennis drops Danny and Danny lands on his face in the sand, and then he looks out into the ocean, "I don't see any sharks!" Dennis kicks Danny onto his back and he grins at him, "Come on pussy, man up!"

Danny gets up and picks up his surfboard, "Ok, well have a rematch!"

Dennis hits Danny in the back of the head and runs back into the ocean, "Yeah, don't be upset if I beat you again!"

Danny walks back into the ocean and looks around, "I hope this shark doesn't eat me!"

"Come on, loser lets go!" Dennis shouts as he lies on the surfboard preparing for a good wave to come.

Danny goes farther in and prepares for a wave. He looks over at Dennis laughing at him and he sees a shark fin behind him, "Shark!"

"Yeah right, you just want to scare me."

A big wave comes and Danny jumps on his surfboard and rides the wave to get away from the shark and winds up knocking over Dennis. Everyone in the crowd is cheering as Danny surfs into the shore perfectly and then he crashes into the sand and flips over onto his back.

Savannah runs up to Danny, "Wow Danny that was awesome, you totally beat Dennis!"

Danny looks up at Savannah, "I just wanted to get away from the shark!"

Meanwhile back in the ocean, Dennis comes back to the surface and looks over at the shore where Danny is being praised, "Cheater!"

The Mayor runs down to Danny and pats him on the back, "That was amazing, I have never seen anyone surf like that before!"

As everyone is all crowded around Danny, Sam looks out into the ocean and sees a shark fin so she turns to Sara, "Sara I think there is a shark out there and Dennis is still in the water."

"Let's warn him, before he gets bit!" Sara then runs to the shoreline and Sam follows.

As Dennis is about to get back on his surfboard he sees the shark fin, "Oh crap, Danny wasn't joking!" He grabs the surfboard and starts to swim to shore, but something grabs his leg and he accidentally releases the surfboard, "Oh god, someone help me!" Then he looks at the shark fin that appears in front of him, "Shark!"
