Chapter 21

Demer arrives at the police station and throws Asmodeus into one of the holding cells that are in the backroom. The backroom has two holding cells where some of the criminals would go before being transferred to the state or county jails, or even where they would keep certain suspects. They were small cells with white bars and each had a silver toilet in the corner and a bed across from it held by chains. The room smelled of urine and body odor. The walls were white and had some profanity written or carved into them from previous prisoners.

Asmodeus sits on the bed and looks over at Demer glaring at him through the bars, "Well Demer looks like you caught your first criminal!"

Demer points over at Asmodeus, "Hey I'd shut up if I were you, you're going to get the death penalty for sure!"

Asmodeus laughs, "You moron, they got rid of the death penalty in New Jersey years ago!"

"Shut up!" Demer walks out and slams the door.

Asmodeus gets up and looks at the toilet and sees stains on the seat, "Don't they ever clean this place?" He then walks back over to the bed and looks at the profanity written on the wall and he carves a small pentagram into the wall with his claw as he does Demer comes back into the room.

"Hey wise ass, quit defacing the place!"

Asmodeus turns around, "Why clearly everyone else already did, why would you yell at me and not them?"

"I yelled at them too, so quit your whining!"

McArthur enters the room, "Hey, the body is at the morgue and there is a pentagram with the word lust under it on the body."

Demer looks over at Asmodeus and smiles, "Looks like I found the serial killer at last, now the town will be sure to call me their hero!"

McArthur goes to open the cell, "Here I'll interrogate him."

Demer nudges McArthur out of the way, "No, I'll interrogate him, after all I caught him."

McArthur pulls Demer to the side, "Are you sure, I mean he may know where Daniella Stone is."

Demer smiles and walks back to the cell, "I'll do the interrogation, you watch the pro!" He opens the cell and walks Asmodeus to the interrogation room and McArthur follows and stands outside.

Asmodeus sits down at the table and Demer stands at the opposite side of the table. Asmodeus puts his hands on the table and looks up at Demer, "So interrogate away my friend."

Demer slams his fist on the table, "Don't get wise with me boy!"

"Such wrath with you!"

"I would shut my mouth if I were you wise ass!" Demer points at him.

"Shut my mouth, why if I did that then how would you interrogate me?"

"Alright forget I said that, what is your real name?"

"Asmodeus."

"No your real name!"

"Asmodeus is my real name."

"Ok if Asmodeus is your real name what is your last name?"

"I do not have a last name."

"Really? You don't have a last name, ok then why did you kill all those people?"

"You mean the lustful people?" Asmodeus stares at Demer, "Well I am the demon of lust and in order for me to leave Brick I have to kill lustful people."

"What, you need to kill lustful people to leave Brick, why don't you just leave Brick with out killing anyone!"

"I'm afraid it doesn't work that way, you see I can only stay in which ever town I am awoken in, until I have consumed enough souls, and after I am able to leave the town then I can awaken the other five demons."

"That does not make any sense, I think you're just some crazy dude who likes killing people and thinks he is a demon."

Asmodeus digs his claws into the table, "I don't think I'm a demon, I am a demon!"

Demer grabs one of Asmodeus's hands and looks at his claws, "What are these fake claws, take them off!"

Asmodeus frees his hand, "Ok, I'll take off my claws, if you take off your fingernails!"

"If you don't take these fake claws off, I will rip them off!"

Asmodeus digs his claws into Demer's hand, "They are not fake claws!"

Demer pulls away and squeezes his hurt hand, "Freak, you're going to rot in prison!"

Asmodeus laughs, "Yeah and you're going to rot in hell!"

McArthur comes into the room and walks up to Demer, "Hey are you ok?"

Demer lets go of his hand and shows it to McArthur and whines, "He scratched me!"

McArthur looks at Demer's hand and sees that it stopped bleeding, "You'll be fine, how about we put him back in the holding cell until he calms down."

"Why don't we just kill him?"

"We can't it's not our job to take lives, it's our job to save lives."

"I thought our job was to serve and protect!"

McArthur grabs Asmodeus, "Yes to protect is to save lives." Then he walks Asmodeus back to the holding cell.

Asmodeus sits on the bed as McArthur locks up his cell, "Hey I know where Daniella Stone is."

McArthur looks up at Asmodeus who is sitting on the bed grinning at him, "Where is she?"

"That's for you to find out my friend."

"Tell me now!" McArthur snaps.

"Odd that you raise your voice, I thought you were a patient man."

"I need to find her, you tell me where this girl is now!"

"If I told you where she is then you would break your promise you made with her father, telling him that YOU would find her."

McArthur tries not to cry, "Please tell me you didn't kill her."

Asmodeus laughs, "I see you don't want Daniella to wind up like your daughter Britney."

McArthur slams his fist into the bars, "How the hell did you know about her!"

Asmodeus gets off the bed and walks up to McArthur, "I know everything; I know she was on her way home from her friend's house."

"So you're telling me that Daniella is dead?"

"I never said Daniella was dead, where did I say that?"

"Because that was the same way Daniella went missing."

Asmodeus raises one of his eyebrows, "Oh, really?"

"Yes and I know you already knew about that, because you said you knew where Daniella was!"

"Yes I did say I knew where she was, but I never said I knew where she went missing."

Demer walks into the room with a cell phone in a plastic bag and hands it to McArthur, "Here this is Daniella Stone's cell phone, someone found it on the beach and turned it in."

Asmodeus grins at Demer who has a bandage around his hurt hand, "How's your hand?"

Demer glares at him, "Shut up wise ass!" then Demer leaves the room.

McArthur observes the cell phone then looks to Asmodeus, "Do you know anything about this cell phone Asmodeus?"

"I know that it belongs to Daniella Stone."

"Anything else?"

Asmodeus looks up to the side, "Nope."

McArthur turns around and walks out of the room.

Asmodeus stares at the metal bars and grins, "Fools think these bars will keep me locked away." Then Asmodeus disappears and reappears outside the cell looking at the lock, "The only thing this holding cell is good for is containing mortals, not demons."
