// Brendon didn't want to visit his neighbors' son but his mother forced him to show some "respect" or some bullshit like that.//
"Do I really have to go? I don't even know the guy." Well, Brendon does. He's just some lanky smartass that goes to school with him, that's literally all he is.
"Brendon, show some respect! He's recovering from food poisoning!" His mother yells at him as she fixes her dress.
"Right, right, whatever. I'm not going, there are better things to than to visit some guy I have no connection with." Sure, what Brendon said might have shown how heartless he is but he's some idiotic teen, he'll get over this careless phase.
"You are going or I'll take your phone and laptop from you." Shit, Brendon knows when his mother starts threatening, she really means it. Brendon groans and goes upstairs to grab a jacket. How the smart guy even get food poisoning? He's smart. Not some dumb jerk much like Brendon himself. Brendon's pretty sure he should get food poisoning not this guy.

"Brendon, you should know by now. You better be respectful and tell him to get better. His mother is worried sick for him." Brendon's mother reiterates again for probably the twentieth time as she driving toward the hospital. All Brendon does in response is nod, not even looking at his mother.
It's not like he doesn't care, okay, he really doesn't care. Dozen of people get food poisoning and he's pretty sure that not everyone dies from it. Or maybe he's wrong... But that's not what he cares about now.
The hospital drive was on about twenty minutes and Brendon took that time to think about what he'll say or his plan to avoid any interaction with the sick guy. He really doesn't care and just wants to get this over with.
As they park in the parking lot, his mother goes over her usual speech and Brendon completely blocked her voice from on now. They walk to the entrance and the smell of that chemical smell surrounds them.
Hospitals aren't Brendon's kind of environments. There's all sorts of people with all kinds of sickness, the medical tools that he thinks that may kill him one day, and the intimidation of the doctors and nurses. However, visitations are just plain boring to Brendon even if someone was visiting him.
"Mr. Weekes will be in room 126, ma'am." The person at the information desk directs them toward the hall where room 126 resides. Brendon's mother thanks the person and begins to walk toward that room. Brendon follows along and sighs, this is stupid.
When they make it toward the room, his mother knocks the door lightly. Brendon hears another female's voice through the door saying "Come in!"
They open the door and Brendon is greeted with the sight of the sick boy's mother sitting by his side. Brendon looks at the guy on the bed, he's asleep while his mother hugs the other woman in the room. There's something beautiful in watching the guy sleep. He seems so at peace and sure, he might be a huge know-it-all at school. However, right now, he looks like someone that Brendon wants to take care of.
"Brendon," his mother calls out. "Introduce yourself, please."
"Oh, yes," he walks toward the sick man's mother and shakes her hand. "I'm Brendon, I go to school with your son. I'm sorry about this whole situation." He's surprised by his change in mood; he was supposed to be some asshole to this guy.
"You seem like a nice kid, Brendon. Are you Dallon's friend?"
"Not really, I just know him from school."
"Ah, well, I'm happy that you're here. Dallon doesn't have many friends and only one other person has visited him."
That fact makes Brendon's stomach ache a little. How come no one else would want to visit him?
"Grace, I need to talk to you about something outside. Brendon, will you stay in here, please?" Dallon's mother's asks and he nods his head before the two adults leave the room. He sits down, scans the hospital room. There's a few flowers by the bed and the sun lights up the room coming through the window.
Brendon has no idea what he should do. He shifts in his seat, taking his phone out to keep him occupied.
After ten minutes, the mother's haven't came back in and someone else's voice spoke up. "M-mother?"
Brendon looks up, seeing Dallon's eyes open slowly and his lips repeat those words again, calling for his mother. Brendon gets up from his chair and begins to panic. He stands next Dallon and takes his hand. Brendon didn't even know why he did that, he just assumed the guy needed some support.
"I-I'll get her, just g-give me a minute." Brendon attempts to let go of his hand but Dallon holds it tighter.
"N-no, stay." His voice is scratchy and quiet.
"O-okay." Brendon sits beside him, constantly sneaking a few looks at Dallon. All those thoughts of Dallon being a terrible person went away, they were replaced with the person Brendon is sitting beside. Dallon captivates Brendon with his looks. He is sick but it fits him. His eyes are shut, lips slightly parted, and his face showing a calmness that Brendon has never seen before.
Dallon still has his hand tightened around Brendon's. "Have a good sleep, Dallon and get better, okay?" Brendon whispers and then he stares at Dallon again, there's a little smile on his lips. That makes Brendon blush a little and returns the smile.
Brendon lets go of his hand, letting him sleep again. The guy's been through a lot, might as well let him sleep. Before Brendon leaves to fetch the parents, he leaves his number in Dallon's not so closed fist.
When he leaves the room, he promises to visit him everyday from now on. Dallon Weekes deserves a friend who truly cares about him.
