Quite A Shock

Lance was sitting on the bed and watching the lights in his room. He pointed his finger at one of them and moved it up and down. The light flickered on and off.

Despite what he told everyone, Lance's background didn't include beaches, big happy families, and garlic knots. It consisted of white walls, wires, chemicals and labs. Lance was born for the purpose of being experimented on. The government wanted to see what they could do to a human. They wanted to make a weapon. He was kept in an underground lab and never got to have a normal childhood. People in white lab coats would electrocute him almost every day to see how much he could handle. After a while, he was basically immune to the shocks. Next, they move into trying to get him to control and manipulate electricity. He would focus on it everyday while they had electricity and energy pumped into his brain. Their final experiment had been to make him be able to create it himself. This one worked sometimes but more often then not. It just needed practice. And with their finalized experiment, he was given missions.

Most of the time it was to find and kill people who were in the government's way or who were coming close to exposing them. Sometimes it was to erase people's memories.

One day he was given a mission that would be his longest and most difficult one yet.

"704. We are assigning you a new mission. The Garrison has contacted us and needs a favor. They had a mission go wrong and the people who went are suspected to have been taken by aliens. The public believe that the ship crashed somewhere. Iverson informed us that a family member of a couple of the crew members, Katie Holt, had broken in and found some info. She was banned but has returned in a disguise. She is currently going as Pidge Gunderson. You need to eliminate her."

704 nodded. "Understood, sir. What will be my cover story?"

"You're name is Lance McClain. You were born in Cuba but moved to the United States with your family when you turned twelve. You have the perfect home life and a large family. You may create your own personality."

"Yes, sir."

704- er Lance now, decided that he will be oblivious, kind of dumb, clumsy, and a flirt. No one would expect him to be on a mission to kill.

He was put in the same team as Katie. He just needed to get closer to her but she was closed off. His plan was going great until Voltron happened. In space he couldn't contact anyone from the government so he font know what to do. He was free now. He didn't have to kill Katie Holt. That made him feel better since she was still practically a kid. But he kept up his facade. No one knew he was well trained, intelligent, or had powers. He planned to keep it that way.

Lance sighed. He had managed to train himself to control his electricity better. Pidge was still pretending to be a guy. He wasn't going to expose her though, there was no point in doing so. He looked at his hand and watched as the electricity danced around his fingers, giving off a mesmerising glow.

The castle alarms started going off and the lights flashed red. Lance rushed to put on his armor. When he saw the others rush into the control room, he put on his joking demeanor.

"So princess, what's the problem now? Hot alien chicks need our help?"

"Not now Lance. We found the main ship in the Galra empire. If we can shut it down, we win. So Lance, no messing around."

Lance thought it was sad the way they treated him. He didn't mind, of course. But he felt bad for others who actually had this personality. Were they all treated this horribly?

They managed to get into the ship unseen, thanks to Pidge's cloaking device. Once they were in, they went separate ways. Pidge went to shut of the power. Hunk went to guard her. Keith went to find Haggar. Shiro went to find Zarkon. Lance was supposed to guard the lions. The others were about to leave when Lance called out.

"Keith trade with me!"

"What? No!"

"Come on!"

The others had already left.

"No, Lance."

"Trust me on this!"

"Lance I said n-"

He was cut of by Lance touching his shoulder and a small jolt went through his body. Keith stood shocked as Lance ran off.

Lance ran down the hallways in search of the witch. He heard a chuckle behind him. He turned and saw her standing with an evil grin. He started shooting at her with his bayard. She kept dodging his attacks. She had attempted to shoot her magic at him but it just absorbed into him.

The others came running up just as Haggar pinned him to the ground. She pressed her hands to the sides of his head and looked into his memories. Her grin got bigger and she started laughing. Lance's bayard wasn't near him. He looked around and saw his team attacking the barrier Haggar put up around them. He took a deep breath and grabbed Haggar's arms. He sent intense waves of electricity through his hands. She screamed and let go of Lance.

He pressed his hands to the floor and looked at the other paladins.

"When I say 'now' jump!"

He concentrated on the energy building up inside of him.

"Now!"

His friends jumped and a surge of electricity flowed from his hands and across the floor. The lights flickered and went out. The barrier went down as well. He fell over from exhaustion. He heard the muffled voices of the team before passing out.

He woke up and winced at the intense light being shined in his eyes. He shut it off and blinked a few times. He tried to rub his eyes but found his arms and legs tied down to the table he was laying on. He struggled to get out when he heard a door open. Everyone walked in, keeping a safe distance from him.

"Uh...hey guys," Lance chuckled nervously. "Look I can explain-"

He shut up at the sight of Pidge pulling out a large needle. He should have known this would happen.
