TW: SELF HARM

Lance lightly bit onto his clenched knuckles as silent tears ran down his face. His arm was bleeding heavily but not from battle with the Galra. More like from a battle with himself. He had made a few too many deep cuts and was cursing at himself because they would take longer to heal. Lance put his arm in the bathroom sink and turned on the faucet. He let water run over his arm until it didn't sting as bad. He wrapped it in bandages and went to bed.

The next morning he took a little longer than usual to get ready. He had to change the bandages. As much as Lance hated himself, he didn't want to get an infection. Unfortunately, when he was unwrapping his arm it took the scabs off too so he had to wait until it wasn't bleeding as much.

He got to breakfast fifteen minutes late.

"Lance you're late.

"Sorry, Princess. This beauty needs it's time to be perfect."

The others groaned and Allura rolled her eyes. "Anyways as I was saying, the planet we're going to had some...interesting side affects. The atmosphere causes plants to grow in your recent wounds. So if you had a cut, there would be flowers and such. The locals call it the garden of life."

Lance tensed when he heard about the flowers. His arms and thighs would be covered with them!

"Uh, can I sit this one out? I'm not feeling too good," he said, adding a fake cough.

"No, it won't take very long anyways."

"But-"

"I said no, Lance!"

He shut his mouth and finished his food goo. After everyone finished, the paladins headed to their lions. Allura explained that the atmosphere was breathable for the humans so their armour wouldn't be needed. It would make them less intimidating.

Lance was about to have a panic attack. They were going to find out. Everyone would know the secret he'd kept for so many years.

He walked behind the others as they landed in the planet. He winced as he felt a small sharp pain on his arms and legs. His arms were wrapped so the plants couldn't poke through but if you looked closely, there was a slight puff to his jeans. Lance noticed this and it seemed painfully obvious. He just hoped the others wouldn't notice. Not like they paid attention to him anyways.

They continued to the nearby village to greet the locals. Right before they entered, Shiro stopped and turned to Lance.

"This is serious and a necessary alliance so please just stay quiet and don't mess this up for us."

Lance nodded and kept his head down. Shiro turned back around and the group continued on. Lance but his lip as he felt his sleeves puff from the plants that pushed through the bandages. He glanced up to make sure the others weren't watching him before pulling his sleeve up and quickly ripping out the small vines and flowers. He threw them to the ground and ran to catch up with his team. Allura was with them so she could discuss an alliance with the queen of this planet.

They walked up the stairs to the castle and Lance felt the vines grow back. He internationally groaned at the fact that he couldn't get rid of them. They entered the castle and were stopped by a few guards.

"You are all to be checked in separate rooms for your safety."

Shiro and Allura nodded. Everyone went into different rooms, Lance last. He went in and saw on of the aliens standing in the room.

"Hello. Can you take off your pants and shirt? It's a safety check."

Lance hesitated but did as they said. The alien unwrapped his bandages and inspected the cuts.
