A/N: doesn't really matter but this takes place around season two

Lance was feeling sort of miserable. Even though they had just won a battle, they forgot one important detail of the day. Lance's birthday. Of course he didn't blame them. With the war going on, it was easy to get distracted. And it's hard to keep track of the days in space.

On Earth, it wasn't uncommon for his family to forget his birthday. They were always working or trying to take care of his siblings. But they would still remember before the day was over. They would make his favorite food for dinner and sing songs all night.

His friends never forgot though. They would always text him or give him cheap presents because teenagers can't afford very much. A couple years ago, before the Galaxy Garrison, Hunk had sent Lance a video of his whole family singing Lance happy birthday. It made his whole day.

But this year was different. His family wasn't here. And although his friends were, they didn't say anything. It hurt but he didn't blame them. Besides, birthdays are hard to remember. Especially if you haven't known the person that long. But it hurt Lance that his best friend didn't remember. They've known each other for ten years. Ten years! Why would he forget now?

Not wanting to say anything about it, he just stood quietly while the rest of the team celebrated the most recent win.

"Hey, Lance. You okay? You're being kinda quiet," Hunk questioned.

"Yeah, just upset that none of the ladies wanted some quality time with their hero," Lance responded while putting his hands on his hips.

Keith rolled his eyes at the comment.

Coran offered to help Hunk cook a hybrid of Altean and Earth like food.

While the rest of the team was waiting, Lance went to the training room. Training is sort of Keith's thing but back home, Lance used to exercise to blow off steam or relieve stress.

He decided to try some hand to hand combat with the bots.

He trained for hours, not realising the time that passed. He didn't stop until Shiro walked in and called off the training bots.

"Lance, it's late and you missed dinner...is everything okay?"

Lance put on a lazy grin. "Wow, really? I didn't even notice. Did Hunk leave a plate out for me?"

Shiro frowned, noticing Lance avoided the question. "Yeah. If you need anything, I'm here for you, you know? We all are."

Lance smiled slightly. "Thanks, Shiro. I'm going to go get dinner. See you tomorrow."

"Goodnight, Lance."

Lance made his way to the kitchen. No one remembered.

He sat down at the empty table and stared at his food goo. Sighing, he picked up his spoon but before he could eat, the mice jumped on his head.

"Hey! What gives?"

They just squeaked and pointed towards the kitchen. Lance got up and followed the mice. He wasn't very hungry anyways.

The mice signaled for him to cover his eyes. He put his hand across his face and heard the mice running around, followed by a clatter. When he uncovered his eyes he saw a plate of food goo in the shape of a cupcake with a candle on it.

He smiled and pet their heads. "Aw, you guys remembered. Thanks so much. How about I give you a bath later?"

A/N: This is super short and early but I'm unmotivated and kind of needed to rant because literally all of my friends forgot my birthday a few weeks ago. Sorry about the long wait for updates!
