☫ Chapter 13 ☫
Today would be the second tutoring session with Kelly.
And regrettably, I was thinking about it all day. Well, not all day since the day has only begun. So far things have been going swell. And I'm not saying that to be sarcastic. I really mean it. For starters, I didn't come to class late which is something that had been becoming a habit.
Weird thing is, I saw Jude on the way to class. I was going to wave to him or something. I wasn't sure to be perfectly honest. He happens to be a little nice to me so I figured it'd be appropriate. Then I saw him with a peculiar crowd. They were discussing their next 'gig' and how he's been distracted lately.
It almost seemed like they were all in a gang. The way they had matching tattoos and kept smoking. I wanted to ask Jude if he was, in fact, part of a gang.
I didn't get the chance to.
When I got to class, Jaxon and his friends didn't bother me. Sure they cast sideway glares here and there. They also cracked their knuckles and seethed at me as I walked past them. And albeit that, things were actually pretty good. So I continued my fast-paced steps to my locker, my eyes pointed towards the floor. I noticed the slight cracks and stains but unfortunately, I wasn't aware of the person following me.
"Jeremiah," someone hissed.
I looked up, my head slanted and eyes squinted. "Huh?"
It was Kelly. She took a hold of my wrist and dragged me to a corner, one where no one could see us. As I lazily fumbled my feet to catch up with her, I stared at our hands. My cheeks lightly flushed at the sight of her tight yet gentle grip.
We finally came to a halt. Her eyes examined the hallway, making sure no one would look at us. Once she seemed satisfied with the knowledge that no one would, she spared a glance at me. Her eyes widened when she noticed her hand still wrapped against mine. I slightly frowned when she snatched her hand away and wiped it against her shirt.
"I want to apologize," Kelly rushly said and avoided eye contact with me. "I was a bit rude last time."
I raised my eyebrows at that. A bit rude?
If anything I was more curious as to why she was speaking to me while we were still on school premises. She made it quite clear that she didn't want anything to do with me other than tutoring sessions. She even warned me not to talk to her. And I've been feeling the same way. Hence, why I've been deliberately avoiding her.
"It's just really frustrating," she whispered and ran her finger through her hair. "Anyway, I actually came to tell you something since you left so quickly."
She paused and looked at me with narrowed eyes. I only nodded, waiting for her to continue.
"Right," she cleared her throat. "So since today is Valentine's day or whatever they canceled the sessions," she informed me. "Yay..." she sarcastically added with a wave of her hands.
Oh.
"T-thanks for l-letting me know." I offered a small pathetic smile. I scratched the back of my neck with uncertainty. Should I leave now?
"Also," she muttered and took something out of her pocket. I raised an eyebrow at the wrapped up plastic cookie jar. I suppressed a grin when I noticed the pink heart patterned which the jar was covered with. "Take it as a pity Valentine." She hastily slammed it against my chest and walked off.
