I'd like to dedicate this chapter to _arin_ :)

I was sleeping peacefully when my alarm went off. I didn’t want to get up so it took a lot of effort to get out of bed. I went over to the window and pulled the curtains back.

I went to the bathroom and came out in about 20 minutes thanks to my recent look. I went downstairs for breakfast. Everyone was sitting at the table like yesterday.

I quickly ate my breakfast and waved bye to Kevin, Mom and Dad. I got into my car and started driving towards school. I made it to class just before the bell rang, rushing past everyone in the corridor.

Our teacher gave us a science project for the week. When the teacher was selecting the partners, I was really anxious about who I got paired with and I wanted it to be Jeremy. Our teacher, squinting a little through her glasses to read the things written on her note pad, called out my name.

"And Alison Grace is with Dylan Stiles."

What the hell?

"Jeremy Alistair is with Tiffany Anderson. That’s it class. You’ll submit your projects next week."

I was suddenly so angry. I didn’t say another word while going to my locker. I kept my science books in my locker and took out my books for the next class.

Jennifer came up to me.

"Come on! Don’t be so down. She’s nothing compared to you. They’ve broken up and it will be pretty hard to focus on the project and they’ll get an ‘F’. Wait, you don’t want Jeremy to get an ‘F’ right? So Tiffany will get an ‘F’ and he’ll magically get an ‘A’."

"No. Tiffany is nice. I don’t want her to get an ‘F’. They’ll do well together." I said secretly hoping I was wrong.

I went over to Dylan to tell him to come to my house for the project. Dylan was fair skinned with deep blue eyes and dark brown hair. He was cute by the way.

He was talking to one of his friends. When he saw me coming towards him he turned towards me, "Hi Allison! Are you ready to make science history?"

I was a little confused by his friendly welcome because Dylan was the reserved type.

"Yeah. I came to ask you when you can come to my house for the project."

Dylan thought for a moment.

Then he said "How about tomorrow, in the evening?"

"Sure. See you tomorrow then." I replied as I walked off.

I met Jeremy in the hallway too. He was talking to Tiffany next to his locker. I assumed they would probably be talking about their project like everybody else, but I had other thoughts too. As soon as Tiffany left, I went to talk to Jeremy.

"Hi! Decide anything about your project yet?"

"Nope. Not yet. What about you and Dylan?"

"We’re going to discuss it tomorrow at my house."

"Oh, Cool." He said in a dim and bored tone.

When I got home, Kevin was watching TV, I was relieved to see him still here.

"Hey! Back from school? How’d your day go?" Kevin asked casually flipping the channels on the TV.

"Hi. Yeah. Great. Where’s mom?"

"She’s in the kitchen. Why?" He asked pretending to be suspicious.

"Oh nothing I just want to tell her that I’m having a friend over tomorrow evening." I said as I put my bag down and sat next to Kevin on the couch.

"You have friends?" Kevin asked, pretending to be amazed. I lightly shoved a cushion at him.

"So who is it anyway?" Kevin asked.

"His name is Dylan. We’re partners for this science project."

"Then I guess I’ll have to be here tomorrow evening to keep an eye on that guy." Kevin said trying to act like any other big brother.

"Oh come on! I can handle it!"

"Hi Alison! Back from school dear?" mom asked suddenly coming out of the kitchen and placing a tray of freshly baked cookies on the table.

"Yeah. Mom, can I have a friend over tomorrow?" I asked, grabbing a cookie from the tray.

"Sure. Who is it? Jennifer?" My mom asked.

"No, it’s Dylan, mom. He’s my partner for the science project." I said casually biting my cookie.

"Oh, Yeah. I guess he can come over," said mom looking a little taken aback.

I had nothing to do and thought about starting today. I called Dylan who seemed pretty happy to oblige. He was at my house in about 15 minutes. I went to open the door.

"Hi Dylan! Come on inside." I said.

"Hey. What’s up?" he said coming inside and observing our living room.

I suggested we should go to my room so we could look up some things on my computer. When Dylan entered my room he observed every single thing as if he was trying to memorize them.

"Nice house by the way." Dylan said as we were browsing the net for information on our project.

"Thanks. You want a snack?" I asked trying to be a good project partner. I could see his eyes suddenly shine at the sound of food. I went downstairs and prepared some sandwiches for us. We forgot about the project for a while as we were eating our snack. Dylan seemed like a really nice guy. We chatted a little too.

"So you’re new here, right?" Dylan asked.

"Yeah. We moved from California."

"By the looks of your room I think you like blue, right?"

"Yeah I like blue but any color goes for me. What about you?"

"Well I like blue too." He said smiling a little.

We were still chatting when someone knocked lightly on the door. I assumed it must be Kevin or Mom or Dad.

"Yes?" I asked as I casually opened the door.

But the face I saw sent shivers down my spine.
