Hey everyone I'm back,
I hope all of you had a happy Halloween! Here in the Netherlands we don't even celebrate it. I don't really care though.
I've been feeling pretty well lately, I'm glad it's November again. I've always loved November and December a lot I love the fireworks and all that and there's always this kind of tension hanging in the air, a positive one, it's like everyone is excited and possibly a little nervous about everything but in a good way. I know a few things about what people around the world do when it's new year. In fact i has to do a presentation about it once but I kind of half assed it cause I couldn't care less lmao. Now obviously I only learned about a few big traditions from a few big countries so I'm definitely not an expert by any means. I want to tell you something about New Years traditions in the Netherlands and maybe more specifically about where I live in the Netherlands.

Okay let's begin!
First of all we don't celebrate Christmas here, well not really? I'm not sure? <— that's basically Christmas here. Some people celebrate it, some people don't, I always just see it as a bit of a marketing strategy because there is always Christmas stuff and decorations you can buy.

Now, on to New Years!
People often set off fireworks, in fact the fireworks usually start around now even though it's still illegal (I've done it too so I'm not really one to judge oops)

People often just get their fireworks in the Netherlands, there is enough really so you could easily do it here, but some people do it a little different, specifically people where I live in such.
That is because I live very close to Germany, look:

The orange one is the Netherlands and the green one is Germany

No one lives here, it's stupid. But there's one positive thing about it: it's very close to Germany! Many people who live close to Germany (especially in the north of the country for some reason) go to Germany to buy fireworks and some people even do their grocery shopping there. Why? You ask? Oh there's a few little reasons, I'll tell you:

It's cheaper (and Dutch people are cheap skates the stereotype is quite true)

There's more illegal fireworks you can buy there cause the laws are different. So you always have stronger fireworks near the border of the country, not that i mind though I love it.

And that's basically it to be honest. I've always loved going to Germany to get fireworks. Sometimes my uncle would buy it and he'd bring it to ya since he lived in Germany (he just lives in the Netherlands now lmao don't worry he's not dead)

There are a few more small traditions that I'd like to tell you about, they're just really random but they're all a part of it and probably a part of what makes it good to me.

Okay first of all we got 'oliebollen'
Sounds weird right? Here's a picture:

I know they look kinda weird but they're so good! You can get them natural or with raisins and you can eat them with powdered sugar if you like

Okay now another thing that we have here in the Netherlands and maybe also in other countries idk. (Tell me about it if you guys have something like this too I'm curious)

We have: the top 2000!
Or as we call it: de top 2000 (not much difference there)
It's a radio program that plays the most popular songs from all time!

And half of the Netherlands listens to it! That's about 8 or 9 million people.
I just know that my family has always listened to it, every year another song is number one (most of the time) last year it was bohemian rhapsody and I know it was hotel California a few times, Wish you were here was number one too a few times. Anyway it's all just really fun. I can't wait to vote again lol.

Well sorry this was so long but I really wanted to tell you all about it. It's not really like I have anything else to do anyway.

I'll probably make another part very soon cause I'm bored oops.
Thanks for reading!
