Mr. and Mrs. Kiker sat huddled together, hands intertwined, in a small white room. Mrs. Kiker sobbed into Mr. Kiker's chest as the Doctor explained Nova's damage and her current situation. "I- I don't understand, but she must have someone looking out for her, I've never seen someone flat-lined for so long functioning normally. However, due to her flat-line, she lost a significant amount of air to her brain, which could cause her trauma from as small as a few loss memories, to a large chunk of memories, or in the worst case scenario, she could become brain dead." Mrs. Kiker let out another choked sob as the Doctor continued. "However, she seems promising. Her vitals are looking good, her pulse is strong, and she's healing fast."

The Doctor caught herself before she said abnormally fast, though it was true, the girl was healing much faster than a kid with a scraped knee could. But she didn't want to upset the girl's parents, so she bit back the comment and stared into Mr. Kiker's eyes as he held onto his wife.

"We noticed something when we were examining the damage, she has a scar running from below her collar bone to her hip..  but the strange thing is that the muscles were also cut, and they aren't fully healed yet. Which doesn't make since, you cant have a scar that looks quite a few years old and still have muscle tissue healing." Mrs Kiker looks at her with a scared expression

"No, she's never been cut like that before, are you sure it isn't damaged because of the.. accident." Mrs Kiker said softly, the Doctor nodded at the young couple sadly. She hoped for their sake that the girl would pull through, she had soon so many couples stray apart once death became present in their family. And by the looks on their faces, she was their only child.

"It could be, I mean, the muscle is pretty beat up, like how it would be if the cut was recent. Does she have a history of-."

"DAMN-IT! I WANT TO SEE MY SISTER! I DON'T GIVE A FU-." The young woman fidgeted nervously.

"Aaron.." She muttered near silently, she hadn't seen him since.. well.. since that happened. A tall boy with dark circles under his eyes and stubble on his chin looked at the couple in disgust.

"Where is she?" He spat out through gritted teeth, the Doctor moved to push him out the door but the young lady's voice stopped her.

"He's with us, he's are son." Mrs Kiker said quietly as she stood. "Aaron.. I-you-.." Aaron held up his hand and cut her off with a deadly glare.

"I'm not here for you, I'm here for Nova. Where is she?" Mrs Kiker took a step  back in surprise then sat back down next to her husband and placed her head in her hands. Aaron's eyes stung and burned as he watched his mother's shoulder's shake with silent sobs, he looked at his father with desperate eyes. The older man looked at his son with weary eyes, red and puffy and wasn't able to say a word. "Where is she." Aaron finally choked out again.

He looked at the Doctor expectantly who sighed and set her clip board down. "She's in critical condition, no one is allowed to see her until her MRI gets back. I'm sorry son." She told him as she patted his shoulder and left the room.

Aaron watched the older Korean lady leave the room silently, he begged the tears to stay where they were but they rolled down his cheeks, anger boiled in his veins and he snapped at his father. "Critical condition? I had to hear from a friend of a friend that she was in the hospital, and she's in critical condition? This is my little sister we're talking about, and you couldn't even pick up a God damn phone and call me? What the serious fuck is wrong with you?" Aaron bellowed at his father, that's when the contact was made, his father's fist pounded Aaron right on his left eye.

"Don't you ever speak to me like that!" His father growled as Aaron glared, ignoring the hysterical pleas from his mother.

"Or what dad? Are you going to disown me? Throw me out and tell me how worthless I am to you, that your daughter is ten times better at being a guy than me? I'm sorry that I hate working on cars, and I'm sorry that my grades weren't perfect, but you had no fucking right to cut Avalyn off from me. You had no fucking right to not call me and tell me that my baby sister was in the fucking hospital. Don't even try saying you didn't have my number, because we both know that's a lie; I call every two weeks and leave the same God damn message every time asking you to let me come home and visit my baby sister!" Aaron yelled, his father gritted his teeth and clenched his meaty, calloused, palms. Aaron couldn't even look at his mother, it was too heart breaking. It was bad enough his father disowned him.
