Chapter 19: Backstory

No ones POV:
As Sayuri continued her tragic tale, tears came to the eyes of Lee and Guy. Even Kakashi lowered his head. Her story was so familiar to his that he felt the familiar ache in his chest. Ever since he had gotten out of the Anbu and been hassled by Guy and other comrades, the void in his heart had all but healed. However looking upon the mask she wore and hearing her story, he knew the void wasn't healed within her.

Sayuri: "Over time I grew quite strong and was skilled in different Jutsu, although I had to be very careful not to give myself away with my practicing. Others only saw me as a title hidden behind a face wrap mask, but I saw myself as a ninja. You see my face was never shown to anyone but my father or mother. I have never seen myself because my father feared I would grow vain. I didn't mind though, I was too preoccupied training. Eventually though the time came when my abilities were revealed."

Tsunade: "Go on dear."

Sayuri: "My father had an important meeting with other aristocrats and so he left my mother behind, however he took me along so that I could learn. We made it to the residence when we were attacked. The anbu protecting us were slaughtered and I had no other choice. I managed to fight them back and cast my torture genjutsu upon them. My father and the others watched in amazement. When all of the enemies were defeated, the man we had gone to visit had nothing but praise for my fine blood lines and fine training. My father took credit for my training and the meeting resumed. Afterwards the man pulled my father aside and asked for my hand. However he was already married so I would be a concubine to him, one that served by his side as an undercover guard. I didn't know what a concubine was at the time, but my father heartily agreed with certain conditions."

The crowd erupted in outrage at this, how could a father place such a title upon his own child's head. Kakashi had an outward appearance of calm nonchalance as always, but inside his blood boiled. He gritted his teeth and knew what that title meant for her and he didn't like it one bit. That was when Lee piped up.

Lee: "Guy sensei! What is a concubine!?"

Guy: "A concubine is a secondary wife much lower in status than the main wife. They are basically sex slaves who satisfy their master's sexual appetite and provide children to spread their blood lines."

Lee was mortified, his jaw dropped and he turned to look at the girl whom he had helped to save. Perhaps he had saved her from much more than just death from injuries.
